ICASA reports that over 70% of rape victims are acquaintance rape victims. 57% or rapes happen on dates. 42% of rape victims told no one of the assault and only 5% reported the assault to the police.
Having a relationship, even having a sexual relationship, does not negate that a rape took place.
Being raped by someone you care for is a crushing blow to your psyche. Not only do you have to grapple with the defilement of violation, you are also faced with the destruction of trust.
