live from the diaries - 11.03.26 i wrote this and recorded and edited all within the hour, im trying to think less about what I post or how it comes across something i think heaps about though… is the word ‘stranger’ how it’s something used only at a precipice or at an end. used to describe someone new or someone old but never someone present … and yet there’s strangers that feel very much here and now no matter. an explorer explores, a digger digs… a stranger estranges? sometimes I can’t help but feel like a perpetual stranger, through no fault of anyone either - it’s just if I feel so unknowable to even myself, how could I be known by someone else? so I take the summations others have of me… that I have my walls up, not cos it’s my intent but maybe that’s just how I am, and I date boys who feel scared about me knowing them, not cos that’s their intent but maybe that’s just what I attract while I’m like this. #poetrycommunity #writing #brisbane #whatwereyouthinking #diaryentry

first poetic vid of 2026 incoming… these were the first thought lines that birthed it: grief as heavy as a fridge, a fridge that I buy nothing new for but keep on checking every hour. the lunch I had made was taken from it. I see her eating it now. #vignette #poetrydaily #writingprompts #journalwithme

this 2026 journal set is my first time I’ve decorated my journals beyond the usual sharpie label. I scoured thrift stores for books that were practically falling apart, and stationary stores for old stamps, stickers, magazine cuttings. I feel like I’ve noticed a difference pretty instantly. using and interacting with the journals feels a little more fun, a little more like there’s been personal investment, and it’s easier to build up a sense of purpose with associations with the images. #scrapbook #paperephemera #vintage #journallove

thank you for all the love on the last post 🥹🥰 here is my bullet journal set up for January (really struggled with that first sticker sheet) I wanted my journal to be exciting to see, beautiful to write in so for the first time I’m decorating it and putting some effort into the cover sheets and spreads. for me this month is all about experimenting seeing what type of weekly spread I’m feeling at this time which is why I’ve drafted out so far (usually only do two weeks in advance). PS you’re not going blind, I just blurred the pages I’ve already written some personal stuff heeheehee #journalcommunity #bulletjournalweekly #bujo #journalspreads

@wombatcereal shared his journal ecosystem and I’ve been inspired to do the same 🤭 In 2025 I “maintained” (very inconsistently) 3 journals, a junk journal, a planner, and a diary. This year I want to kick it up a notch and keep myself more accountable so I am taking on 10 different journals for my 2026 journal ecosystem and sharing the vision with you today. Each journal has a specific purpose relating to either a creative endeavour, self-interiorising, or appreciating the outside world. Big thank you to Sophie for gifting me a @louisecarmenparis voucher that I used to get the Honoré, to Lucas for the @midori_designphil idea diary, and Fabio for the vintage vogue cover hardback, and ofc big thanks to you for watching and reading. happy journaling and compartmentalising life hehehe -your boy, serani #2026 #journalecosystem #bujo #paperrepublic

last Friday I won my first ever poetry award 🥹🫣🫨 so here’s a little post to celebrate eeee “The Arts Queensland XYZ Prize recognises and celebrates excellence and innovation in Australian performance poetry and spoken word. The Prize, as part of the Arts Queensland Poetry Awards, is administered by QWC and supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Named after the former 2010 Arts Queensland Poet in Residence, Emily XYZ, who left a deep impression on many of today’s Queensland spoken word artists” thank you everybody for the support, especially the lovely folks who I got to meet at this event. I also wanna especially shout out: my sister Sarah, @_princess.warrior_ , who taught me the value of not just language but speaking up and using my voice, my other sister Huda @hudathegoddess , who pushed me to enter this competition and who is a constant source of reassurance and inspiration whether with my poetry or any personal plight I am going through 😂 my first poetry professors, Paul @paul_b_bellew , and Jarad @jaradbruinstroop , who taught me so much about the craft, both how to take it seriously AND how to enjoy it. of course @qldwriters and @artsqueensland , the work your team does to keep the light of creative writing burning bright in qld is so so appreciated. @ruckusslam this team has been holding down slams in this city for years, and has given me endless opportunities to build familiarity with the mic. @gritweek and @voices_of_colour who were some of the first audiences for the first drafts of this poem and lastly - shout out to the two main inspirations for this poem, the boy who I met in Taipei 🐣 and Alysia Nicole Harris’ poem ‘The Crow’s Sugar’. your boy, serani 🌺💐🌼🪷🌹

i drink to forget, but I always remember. i did not learn to read the omens - the alchemist was a book i gifted someone i once knew. i gifted it to him cos he looked for signs everywhere, a certain bird meant an ancestor was watching, angel numbers in the strangest of places, yet we ignored every omen that we had outgrown what we once had. he never read the book, turns out he doesn’t like reading. i never learned to read omens, turns out I don’t like fate. instead it seems i like wine, searching for ways in which God and me could be similar, and a penchant for taking something happy and turning it into something terrifying and unrelenting. #poemoftheday #visualpoetry #paulocoelho 🎵: experience by ludovico einaudi 🖼️: cover art of ‘the alchemist’ by paulo coelho
