“Come June” started out as one of those loose late night ideas, the kind that come floating along just before drifting off to dream. Luckily, my guitar was on the floor next to my bed. I rolled over and quietly plucked the guitar part, so as not to wake Talia, and I mumbled the first words “in the summertime I love you…” I went back to sleep picturing crashing symbols and banging drums, I wanted to hear a sonic representation of how quickly curiosity can turn to action, I wanted to hear the changing of a season in a song.
A couple weeks passed, the idea stayed present, I pulled up to Danny’s and played the first 10 seconds or so of the song. Him and Gabe were very intrigued. We started to wonder what it would be like to express the most possible emotion using the least amount of words.
We polished off the poem:
“In the Summertime I love you
With my bleeding heart in full bloom
Now it’s Autumn time and we’re through
Wonder where I’ll be come June.”
When I played the song for Antony he couldn’t help but envision the scenes that this song could score. Another thought experiment was put to the test when Ant posed the question; “How can we use time and symbolism to represent collisions of the heart?” The narrative turned into a real life love story, the ending and the beginning are quite blurry, we wanted the video to mirror the ebbs and flows of pursuit, possession and loss.
Suffice it to say, it took a village, we nailed it, and I’ve had so much fun sharing it with you.
More to come,
YF

Hello again dear friends,
As the season slips away I feel compelled to reconnect…
It was another Summer for the romantics, I spent time in the midwest, said bye to granny jo, feels like I’ve been around the world and back a few times since we last spoke. Things are quite different out there than I imagined they were, go figure! I spent a whole heck of a lot of time being Josh and I’m mighty grateful for that, but now it’s time to return as Yoshi…and with fury at that. There is new music coming out soon, and it’s the best I’ve ever made. I have so much I can’t wait to share.
Your truly,
YF
“Gin and Juice” is out now and the visual is quite iconic and it’s all truly yours…
*A family affair, created by the sibling duo - with direction provided by @antonymuse and star power brought by @sofiamuse - I am so grateful for those two.
**Let’s keep it rocking, now go and have yourself a weekend.
Crash test dummy
We keep on risking it all
Tell me you love me
Before we hit the wall
If I saw the future
It would not change my mind
Stubborn as the concrete
I’d do it all over again…
