Before the stages, before the travel, before the name — there was a kid from Michigan Park, Northeast Washington, D.C.
T. Sheldon Silvers, known as YOSHELLZ, began dancing at the age of 8, growing up in multiple dance communities throughout the DMV. Being raised in D.C. didn’t just influence his movement — it shaped his identity. From early foundations in hip-hop styles such as Krumping, Animation, Tutting, Popping, and Waving, to later training in ballet and contemporary, Sheldon built a movement language that bridges raw street energy with technical discipline.
He is widely recognized as the “Prince” of Beat Ya Feet — a foundational footwork street style born in Washington, D.C. More than just mastering the style, he carries its history, its rhythm, and its responsibility of preserving GoGo culture. His dedication to preserving and elevating the culture has taken him across the United States and internationally, teaching in Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Poland, London & even 3 cites in Brazil!
Beyond performance and teaching, Sheldon is also a visionary community builder. He is the creator of major dance platforms such as ShellShockDC and The Release Project DMV — events designed to give dancers a safe and powerful space to discover their lane, develop self-expression, and find pathways into the professional industry.
Whether performing, teaching, or mentoring, Sheldon’s mission remains clear: represent D.C. with integrity, create positive outlets for dancers, and push culture forward without losing its roots!
