🌈✨Vibe With Pride 🌈✨ Voted as our official 2026 theme by our community, Vibe With Pride reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re going. Ten years since 2016, we’re drawing from the cultural spark of the mid-2010s, bold self-expression, connection, and unapologetic energy, while recognizing that Pride continues to evolve alongside our community. In moments when visibility matters, when belonging matters, when community matters, we choose to show up. Pride is celebration. Pride is resilience. Pride is standing together with intention. The vibe may shift with the times. Our values do not. Let’s move forward together! #YorkPride #VibeWithPride #Pride2026 #communityfirst

A hidden piece of Newmarket history just resurfaced, literally from a flooded basement. This Asian Heritage Month, York Pride Director Erika MacNeil @hintsofgrey is helping bring her family’s powerful story to life through Imagined Histories: Beyond the Silence, a free exhibit now on display at Old Town Hall. The exhibit showcases stunning portrait work by her -grandfather, Clarence Chong, a Chinese Canadian artist whose journey connects directly to a difficult chapter in Canadian history, when Chinese families were separated and restricted by exclusionary immigration laws while many men were brought here to work on the railroads. Recently rediscovered after years hidden away, these artworks are now finally being shared with the community. Expect powerful stories, beautiful arts, and a deeper look into the untold histories that helped shape Canada and Newmarket itself. The opening reception features performances by opera singer Vicki Lovelee and guest artist Jianming Chen. Free admission. Big emotions. Incredible history. Go experience something meaningful this month. Old Town Hall, Newmarket On display until May 30, 2026 Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Across Ontario, Pride organizations are doing more than hosting events. From large city festivals to small and rural communities, Pride is driving tourism, supporting local businesses, creating safe spaces for youth, and connecting people to essential supports. For many regions, Pride is one of the only hubs for education, wellbeing, and belonging. This April, six Pride organizations, representing small, medium, and large festivals from across the province, will be at Queen’s Park for an Ontario Pride Leaders Press Conference (April 21) and Reception (April 22) to help share this collective impact. We know this moment represents more than just six organizations. There are 50 to 70 Pride groups across Ontario, each doing incredible work, and this is just the beginning of a broader conversation. Due to timing and capacity, attendance at the reception is limited, but we want to make sure more voices are part of this movement. If your organization is interested in connecting, please reach out to us in our DMs. Most importantly, help us amplify this message. Share this post, start conversations, and highlight the work happening in your community. When Prides grow, Ontario grows.
