The experience of a fellow student who became involved in prostitution inspired me to explore the inner struggle and the social phenomenon of juvenile prostitution. After producing a cast of her face, I merged her visage with the design of an industrial drinking fountain. The piece dispenses red wine through the lips directly into the viewer’s mouth, with the excess liquid and saliva draining through the void of her eyes. The viewer was invited to drink red wine after introducing a coin into a slot and inserting a finger into the side of the machine. Although the wine was not recycled, the viewer had no way of confirming this. The smell and the taste of red wine passing through the cold sensual lips evokes a sense of desire and pleasure, in contrast with the position of the face that lies in a defenseless, sacrificial pose
