Something strange + luminous is coming to the upstairs gallery at Wompa this weekend …
This Friday, we welcome the first ever gallery exhibition from Tulsa artist Cherry-Apple Peach @cherryapple_peach with paintings that feel less “made” than summoned.
“It feels like a magic trick,” the artist says. “I’m turning this flat two-dimensional plane into a three-dimensional illusion.”
Built layer by layer in oil, the work explores suffering, labor, spirituality, mythology, class, desire + the strange emotional architecture of modern life. Massive compositions glow with bruised purples, violent reds, candlelit yellows + bodies caught somewhere between ecstasy and collapse.
“The world is hell for the working class,” Cherry-Apple Peach says. “And the mouth becomes the portal both to the wider world and to the mind.”
This is work about transcendence through suffering.
About beauty dragged through shadow until it glows.

We still CANNOT believe how many of you showed out to the Offline Night Market on Friday. Even with having an almost 2 hour delay due to thunderstorms (and the lights outside going out) our vendors held strong and you all still showed up to party with us. Most importantly, we cannot express enough gratitude to our vendors who stuck around, even having to wait out the rain, and for always being flexible and adaptive to anything thrown at us. You were all so understanding and positive throughout the night and we couldn’t be more grateful to be doing these event with such a great group of vendors (and now, friends).
