Made the most amazing kayak trip I could ever imagine. 4 days in the jungle of Suriname. A small boat dropped me with a guide more than 5 hours upstream the Marratakka river, and in 4 days we meandered our way back. Slept in hammocks under tarps (and very important, inside mosquito nets), in the middle of the never silent forest. Caught some fish and fried bakbana for dinner. Saw sooo much incredible wildlife, but had a hard time taking photos due to hours and hours of thunder and rain trying to bale the 15 cm of water out the kayak, but everything was soaked, including the camera.
Made the most amazing memories on this unforgettable trip like getting hissed at by giant otters, a jaguar roaming the campsite, the terrifying sounds of the howler monkeys, looking a “small” anaconda in the eyes, and being reminded to close all bags all the time by the big ass spiders. Dodging the biggest spikes on the trees with an inflatable kayak that is quite too big for the narrow pass (whiled dodging a bee hive). But also seeing the sun rise on the most serene river. Floating with the stream with the sun on my body, watching the most colourful birds fly by, and the monkeys jump from tree to tree, watching ant eaters in a tree, eating ants, and finding the Harpey eagle on the last day. #suriname🇸🇷 #jungle #rainforest #maratakkariver #maratakka #kayak #nature #naturephotography @unlocknature.tours
The forgotten SD card also held these lovely sunny pictures of the incredible day spent kayaking in the Heinabergslón glacier lake. One of the many glacier lakes on the south of Vatnajökull. Feel so fortunate to not only spent multiple days of my life with the view on this beauty but also spent some time in 2016 crampon hiking it, and now peddling in between its drifting icebergs. Would absolutely love to spent more time with her.
