NOT-YET (part 1) — re:turn
7 months into my MFA at the AA school, AAIS 25 presented our first public event at Stone Nest in London!!! Performing again as a dancer and being part of the behind the scenes was a thrilling and memorable experience, I’m so proud of our small company of 12!!!! Thank you to our AAIS tutors, Stone Nest and our collaborators, a special thank you to our dancers, what a privilege it was to dance and work with you! ❤️✨
Next stop, Færderbiennalen in Norway!!
happy graduation!! i had a great first year in the uk at uca completing my bfa in interior design, meeting the best group of designers that make every gloomy day in the uk a little bit better. my year in canterbury has been hectic but incredibly fulfilling - pushing the boundaries of creativity, refining my skill set and exploring different areas of research within the design world.
for these past 2 years away from dance, i can say that it was the right decision to take a step back and allow myself to heal. ID and dance are such vastly different areas of focus, but i’ve also learnt that they’re not so different in a lot of ways. italy and canterbury has allowed me to really slow down and appreciate the things around me more, while dance will always be my favourite form of artistic expression.
i’m so immensely excited to share that i will be attending the AA school of architecture’s MFA in spatial performance and design program this coming fall - to be able to combine both of my passions, work with other creatives and moving towards more production & direction! in some way, i always wanted to be part of something bigger than myself, artistically speaking, and never wanted to fit into a neat little box. so while it isn’t completely what i used to do, i’m returning to my first love on my own terms and on a larger scale. lastly, i want to take the time to thank my parents for being my biggest supporters, and never limiting how big my dreams can be. exciting projects are on the way ⭐️
23/5/2025 - The Westgate Performing Arts
I had always wanted to design a performing arts centre, and I finally got the opportunity to do just that. It was such a fun time creating the Westgate Performing Arts for my Final Major Project of undergrad. Over the past 5 months, this project has consumed my every waking thought, and prior to this looking intensively into theatres and performing arts centres for my dissertation. As we end our time as 3rd years in the UCA Interiors program, here are the results.
The Westgate Performing Arts aims to create a safe, inviting environment for university students of Canterbury to connect and engage in cultural exchange through performing arts. The purpose of the centre is to become a space that facilitates open conversations among peers and provides as a platform for performers and artists to create & share their art. With an open-plan design where the main performance space is the main focal point, all elements are designed around it. Like in residential spaces, the building consists of zones akin to day and night zones - public lounges and gathering spaces refer to day zones, and behind-the-scenes spaces like studios, rehearsal space and backstage refer to night zones. While the day zones appear inviting and casual to encourage openness and collaboration, night zones still preserve the element of magic in performances and a sense of wonder for the audience.
I’m really happy with how this turned out, and immensely proud of my peers for their accomplishments throughout this year. I had the best time at UCA, and can’t wait for graduation in July 🩶
