10 REASONS TO LISTEN TO VINYL RECORDS!
Here’s a recap of our recent list we put together to explain why so many people are still listening to vinyl (and other physical formats) in the age of streaming.
Many of you may have seen recent reports that vinyl sales dropped 33% this Summer, but we’re gonna help set the record straight: vinyl sales have actually gone UP 6.2%. The inaccurate statistic making its way around the web is a result of a dramatic change in the national reporting methodology that was implemented last year, which completely excludes sales from any indie shop or mom-and-pop store that doesn’t directly report their sales to Luminate or Billboard. Independent retailers are responsible for more vinyl sales than big box retailers and corporate chains by a large margin, so you can imagine how dramatically the numbers would be affected if you suddenly stopped counting all the sales that happen in thousands of small shops around the country. Thankfully, more accurate statistical models have been put in place in recent months, which is how we know that the number of records sold has actually INCREASED by 6.2%.
So have no fear: vinyl is still going strong and Americans still love their records. And if you wanna know WHY we love them so much… this list is just a start!

Athens, GA folk rocker Hunter Morris (@mountain_of_youth_hunter ) has a new album out today via @strollingbonesrecords ! Check out Nowhere, NW and come snag a copy on CD or vinyl at the shop!
About the album (in the words of the artist):
We are all capable of reaching within ourselves to find the innocence of our youth. No matter what we accomplish in life, we all come from nowhere and we all end up nowhere. But maybe accepting and even embracing this reality can give that much more meaning to the moments in between. For all of the places we go, the people we meet, and the experiences we have as we move through life, we are all essentially still just curious children wondering what we mean to the world. Everyone’s a kid at heart, we just dress the part.
