Ever wondered what it’s like to be in the Yeah, Art! classroom? Step inside Roosevelt Middle School, where our students are learning music production from industry greats like Warriors DJ @djdsharp and Oakland studio owner & producer @xarinamusic . In our classes, students learn to write, produce and perform their own original music — straight from professional artists who they can relate to and look up to. Our arts education nonprofit has been in Oakland schools for a year. Here’s the impact we’re making with our students ✨ ➡ Our students reported a 50% confidence increase in their skills in music production. ➡ Our students reported a 23% increase in interest in pursuing the arts. ➡ Our students reported a 45% confidence increase in vocal performance. ➡ Our students reported a 54% confidence increase in songwriting. What do dinosaurs, rainbows and pineapples all have in common? 🦕🌈🍍🤔💭 They’re all part of our students’ dream worlds. And now, thanks to your support, they move in 3D. ☁️ “IT WAS ALL A DREAM” ☁️ We tapped young artists to draw their dream worlds. Then we brought them to life, animating the students’ art to pop off the page in augmented reality. You can help us us bring more students’ dreams to life. This Giving Tuesday, we’re aiming to raise $25K. This amount will enable Yeah, Art! to teach our arts curriculum in an Oakland public school (4) days a week for the rest of the academic year; and provide a radically ethical wage for our diverse team of Teaching Artists. Oakland kids’ art coming to a skyscraper near you! @yeahart_ 's new class “Sky’s The Limit" teaches kids digital illustration, and their final project will shine on the top of the @salesforce_towertop_art , making our students the youngest artists EVER featured on the building. Special thanks to @ktvu2 , @jimcampbell_studio , and our teaching artists @wubywambie and @mikeblankenship_ . Yeah, Art! opens kids up to new creative possibilities. Just wrapped our second class of a new partnership we’re building in Oakland 🚀 @yeahart_ is working with Roosevelt Elementary to teach digital design, animation and how to create for real-world platforms. This week, we used LEGOs to break down the concept of pixels, a creative lesson by creative technologist @wubywambie . What makes this one extra exciting is knowing these kids' art will soon be shining up on a much bigger canvas... stay tuned!

A lot of our students are carrying things we can’t see. In our Music Production class, students write and produce original songs from scratch using the same technology the pros use, building real skills, confidence, and a healthy outlet for self-expression. Yeah, Art! x Oakland Symphony 🎤✨We are beyond proud to present this collaboration. In a poetry workshop with @oaksym , middle schoolers opened up on the theme of forgiveness and used music software to add rhythm to their rhymes. The class, led by Grammy-stamped artists @prenticeticepowell1906 and @damedrummer culminated in a showcase at the Paramount Theater alongside the orchestra. Excited to share that I’ll be teaching a Digital Art Workshop with Yeah, Art!, in partnership with Microsoft, Best Buy Teen Tech Center, and Microsoft Surface! On May 16, 2025, I’ll be guiding students through the basics of vector illustration using Adobe Illustrator. This is perfect for teens who are ready to bring their sketches to life and dive into digital design. This one means a lot. As a creative, I’m always looking for ways to pour back into the next generation of artists and storytellers.
