Time is ticking on the WA Government introducing the container deposit scheme to wine bottles. Visit @friendsofwawine to find out more AND PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION ONLINE.
This scheme is NOT the state government paying you 10c to recycle your wine bottles, but rather wine producers funding the scheme that will cost between 19c (14c + WET + GST) to $1.25 per bottle to manage - this cost will be passed back on to you the comsumer raising the cost of WA wine and making it even harder for small family businesses like ours to survive.
The environmental benefits of the scheme are negligible, with the Governemnts modelling seeing a best case scenario of raising recycling of wine bottles from 65% to 67% (obviously the Government gets to keep the full amount of the 19c wineries are forced to pay on the 33-35% of wine bottles aren't recycled).
Graciano. Originating in Spain's Rioja, this grape is rarely made as a single varietal wine. In it's homeland it is normally used as a blending component to add colour, pallet weight and fragrance to Tempranillo based wines.
We source this from a magical little vineyard in Karridale and love making a single vineyard Graciano. The wine always has a deep colour and bursts with vibrant berry fruits, but finishes dry and savoury.
Love this wine!

Tannat. Probably the most obscure grape to come through the winery.
Originating in SW France, it's the grape that's "big in Uraguay" and extremely rare in WA. We're super lucky to get access to these grapes and make a perfumed, spicey, rich and structured red from them.

Harvest is a time of celebration. A time of collecting the bounty of a season's growth.
These snaps taken while hand picking Shiraz for our rose capture the changing of the seasons and the joy of the harvest.

We're picking our rose Friday (hopefully before the storm). If you'd like to help shoot me a message.
Morning tea and a bottle or two of rose provided... message us for details.
