The genocide taking place in Gaza is horrific. Tens of thousands of non-combatants have died, including thousands of women and children. You may find yourself in a state of despair. You may find yourself wondering what you can do. You may find yourself wanting to act but not knowing what to do. The Young Democratic Socialists of America at Durham School of the Arts (Y Double DSA) is here to help: we organize real, meaningful action to have our voices heard, such as holding phone banks to speak to our congress people and donating blood. We are here to educate, to learn, and to improve. Join the Y Double DSA to make real change. The interest meeting to join will be held after Winter brake at a TBD date and time. Today, 12 YDSADSA members prepared over 80 grab & go sandwiches to stock the three @durmcommunityfridges throughout Durham!
We used the remainder of our funds from February’s valentine’s fundraiser to help pay for materials. It was a great way to learn about and participate in Mutual Aid, a system based on community driven solidarity and reciprocity.
We collectively got over 40lbs of trash from around DSA’s campus with Nature Notes!!
Big thanks to @keepdurhambeautiful for providing supplies, it was a successful and great afternoon 🌹🌿☀️
**CORRECTION: TUESDAY 4/29**
YDSADSA members will meet in our regular T217 before walking to the Academy Breezeway as a group at 330.
We hope to see you there!! 🌹🌿🚮
Today, 15 YDSA members built and assembled a corkboard containing updates on recent harmful legislation.
There is a noticeable gap in information on how legislation affects us all, especially in public high school. Now more than ever it is important to stay informed with the recent shift to the far right in American politics.
We plan to cycle this board throughout social studies classrooms around campus before finding a permanent location, so stay tuned for updates!! 🌹🌹
This year has been great so far, and we hope everyone had a lovely spring break! We have 1 quarter left of school, so let’s brainstorm ideas for the coming weeks together. Hope to see you there!!
the Socialist Social went AMAZING !!!
thanks a ton to the DSA community for showing up and showing out!! It was a great time enjoying the nice weather, making and reading zines, and hanging out!
Shoutout to club members who made amazing speeches about the history and importance of labor unions in the south, and about the life of Rosa Luxemburg.
We hope to do similar events in the future to continue to spread the word about socialist ideals amongst our student body. See you after spring break!! ☀️🌹
!! RELOCATED to Academy Breezeway, will NOT be in LMC !!
Everyone is invited to come to our social next week! Come check out the zines members have been working on, make your own, write your reps, and eat tasty snacks and drinks! 🌹⚒️

Today is International Women’s day! ⚒️🌹
Now more than ever, it is important to recognize that to undergo major social reform, we must do away with capitalism. It won’t help dismantle the patriarchy, close the gender pay gap, or battle discrimination—its only goal is a profit.

Support our club and activities this valentine’s day with a fun, custom made card!
There has to be a few extra steps for us to fundraise as we need to work within the public school bureaucracy to earn money, so if you have any additional questions or are having trouble with Online School Payements, don’t hesitate to send us a DM or comment!
