I sold Bob.
Silicon Valley companies are famous for starting in garages. Yateou started in my garage and in a 14-foot truck I affectionately called Bob.
Bob was my out-of-the-box solution to the Bay Area’s pricey real estate market and honestly, it turned out even better than my original plan. It was my sidekick and Yateou’s MVP.
In an amazing series of events, I acquired this truck, retrofitted it into a robotic cell on wheels and installed a hand-built plant wall to soften the industrial feel. Scrappy, unconventional, and built at a fraction of the industry cost — Bob and ADE the robot were a combined showstopper.
I've taken Bob to concerts, markets, conferences but one of my favorite memories is moving it 250 miles from the Bay Area to Reno, solo. Climbing through the mountains, I was equal parts scared, excited, and amazed. That drive crystallized something for me: I am capable of so much.
This is an ode to Bob because I never got to say goodbye. Last year, when my mom got sick, I made the decision to pause Yateou and sell Bob to sustain myself while caring for her. At the time, there was no sentiment, no space to process, only action. It was the right decision, and one I’d make again in a heartbeat.
Now, with more room to reflect, it feels right to honor what Bob represented: grit, creativity, and possibility. My journey with Bob taught me that:
💡 Innovation doesn’t always require deep pockets — it requires imagination and determination.
✨ The universe aligns when you’re on the right path.
💪 Entrepreneurship is equal parts vision, execution, and a whole lot of sweat equity.
Saying goodbye to Bob is also about making space for new ideas, new adventures, and new ways of building. The story continues, just on a different path.
So here’s to Bob, proof that bold ideas can be built, moved, and shared if you’re willing to start where you are, with what you have.
