⭐️ Join award-winning local author, Melissa Manning at Carlton Library to discuss her eerily nostalgic new novel, Frogsong 🐸🎶
This tender, lyrical novel explores love, addiction, and the struggle to break free from the ghosts of the past. Set against Tasmania’s evocative landscapes, it’s a haunting tale of loyalty, loss, and letting go. Melissa will be joined in conversation by acclaimed writer Michael Winkler (Grimmish, Griefdogg). Their conversation promises a rich exploration of storytelling and craft.

"It's a really beautiful way of highlighting the community that we get at our libraries and making those connections with language and learning." 💖
We spoke to staff and attendees about @yarralibraries Storytime Around The World and how this intercultural literacy program reflects and celebrates the diversity of Yarra's communities.
This term Storytime Around The World will be held at 11am on Wednesdays at Fitzroy Library, commencing Wednesday 22 April.

We recently held a Yarra Environmental Film Festival across screening spaces at Richmond Library Theatrette, @collingwood_yards and cinema_eclipse 📽️
For this event series @cityofyarra@yarralibraries and @environmentalfilmsaus hosted four inspiring short films about the environmental challenges we face, followed by panel discussions with the filmmakers, campaigners, and community leaders.
Thanks to the nearly 400 attendees who came out and all the event staff and panel discussion members that made it a success 👏

👋 Join us for an Auslan Storytime at Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library!
These Storytimes are delivered in Australian Sign Language (Auslan) by Deaf storytellers, with a qualified Auslan interpreter supporting access for hearing participants. Sessions are visual, interactive and designed to support early language exposure, inclusion, and enjoyment for Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing children and families.
Expression Australia delivers this program in partnership with Yarra Libraries as part of a statewide Multicultural Storytime initiative funded by the Victorian Department of Health.

See you there!
We’re in Waring! The Kulin Nation Indigenous seasonal cycle recognises seven distinct weather periods that occur across the year. Known as wombat seasons in the calendar, cool and rainy days follow misty mornings from April until July. Days are short and nights are long. Wombats emerge from their burrows and the temperatures are becoming chilly.!
Gathered Fragments
My first exhibition, presented as part of the City of Yarra Libraries exhibition program.
Hand-built ceramic forms carrying imprints of Fitzroy’s urban surfaces - cracked pavements, worn edges, textures of use.
Formed through pressing, breaking, layering and repair, each piece holds traces of touch and time. Edges remain exposed, seams visible, surfaces shifting between smooth and porous.
Installed across a curved wall, the work operates as a continuous field, where meaning emerges through relationships between fragments, surfaces and gaps.
An attention to what is usually overlooked.
