Yardzen Project #1: Yardzen’s cofounders, Allison and Adam (pictured here), started Yardzen after losing part of their property to Northern California’s Tubbs Fire. When they set out to landscape their destroyed yard, the bids they received, just for the design, shocked them. They knew there had to be a better way. So, the environmentalist (Adam) and tech entrepreneur (Allison) set out to bring technology, data, and science to landscape design in a way that it had never been before. The result: a new yard for the Yardzen cofounders and a new way to landscape—all online.
Over the next couple of days we’ll be taking you into the Messner’s life during the summer, which is lived primarily outside (yep, many zooms at Yardzen are held in the yard).

After transforming their home’s exterior, @samwestonx turned to Yardzen to reimagine a shapeless backyard into something far more livable.
What was once an undefined lawn became a true outdoor living room-designed for gathering, relaxing, and making the most of Midwest summer evenings.
Our team introduced a new deck, gravel patio, lighting, furniture, and low-mow grass, bringing shape, warmth, and functionality to the space.

When Trent Hancock first came to Yardzen, his 1920s Spanish Colonial in the historic Willo District of Phoenix was in dire need of love.
