Yara Engineer is a fashion designer who is currently bouncing back and forth between Bahrain and Manchester.
Yara loves finding new techniques to work with and she really enjoys experimenting with different materials and finding unconventional ways to sample. In her graduate collection, Yara tried playing around with different fabric weights, using scrap leather that she collected from her father’s car garage as the main element in every look.
Yara has always known she wanted to go into a creative industry. Her biggest inspirations growing up were her grandmother and father. Her father would always help her with school projects and would find creative ways to assist her. Yara’s grandmother runs her own business selling traditional Jalabiya’s, and she would always have fabric laying around so Yara would play around with it and try making things for her cousins. Yara’s mother quickly realized she was interested in this field, so, being the supportive mother she is, she signed Yara up for a lot of fashion courses.
Yara just graduated from a 3-year BA Fashion course at the Manchester Fashion Institute and just finished her graduate collection. Currently, she is looking for ways to display her collection in runway shows and collaboration shoots, and has received a few offers already. Yara also has a project with a band based in Manchester where she would make outfits for the band members to wear in their upcoming music video.
During her three years in university, Yara realized she loves unconventional themes and her passion is creating wearable art. Hopefully, Yara is planning on going back to the UK to build a reputation for herself in the film and music industry. She’s planning on going into costume design and creating looks that work around the theme of the film or music video which would then be worn in the production.

This collection is a heartfelt tribute to my father’s world of mechanical mastery. It’s deeply personal, reflecting his influence and the essence of his garage in every detail. Each piece carries a piece of his legacy, crafted from leather scraps I’ve collected from his car seat projects. I’ve combined his skills with post-apocalyptic aesthetics, drawing from dystopian colors and rugged clothing. Together, this collection celebrates not only my father’s craftsmanship but also the enduring spirit of resilience and creativity that he instilled in me.
