Curated by @josephconstable @letrangere_london @edomanowska Post-eel is part of an ongoing research project focusing on a species on the verge of extinction: the European eel. Its reproductive cycle has been deeply disrupted by the artificialisation of rivers, leading to a dramatic decline in its population. At the same time, scientists are developing biomimetic robots — which may one day become the last remaining traces of a disappearing species. Germs, 2017–2025, stoneware ceramics Views from the exhibition Nowa Huta’s Odyssey, organized in the so-called “Doge’s Palace” in Nowa Huta by @laznianowa and @dom_utopii , from September 26 to October 12, 2025. My sculptures were presented in the control room of the former steelworks of Nowa Huta — the workers’ city built in the 1950s on the outskirts of Kraków. Germs is a project initiated in 2017 at the invitation of the Imago Mundi Foundation @kolekcja_idei , in collaboration with the Archaeological Museum of Kraków @muzeum_archeologiczne_krakow The sculptures draw inspiration from prehistoric pottery unearthed during the construction of Nowa Huta. Their forms and ornaments — seen as prefigurations of the modern city — are intertwined with details of socialist-realist architecture and anatomical fragments. They appear as latent germs of a multilayered social DNA, waiting to be activated. The show was curated by Łukasz Trzciński @art_as_it_should_be and Małgorzata Szydłowska, with the precious help of @gosia_szymczyk_karnasiewicz , Tomasz Talerzak and @vievioorqa . Some views of my spring/summer residency @dom_utopii in Kraków, where I developed new pieces for the project Germs. Working in the amazingly well equipped ceramics studio, while preparing in parallel with choreographer Marta Wołowiec the shooting of the film Germs offered me dreamlike conditions for production. Thank you Małgorzata Szydłowska, Łukasz Trzciński, Gosia Szymczyk Karnaszewicz, Tomasz Talerzak and Patrycja Bobowska for hosting me and supporting me in the production process. @art_as_it_should_be @gosia_szymczyk_karnasiewicz @vievioorqa @marta.wolowiec Thank you @kamilkrajewski for the portrait.

Developing a new project in Kraków, my hometown, at the incredible @dom_utopii residency has been a true blast. I’ve been working on „Germs”, a sculptural & film project set in Nowa Huta — one of the largest utopian socialist realist cities ever built. The work connects archeological discoveries made during the city’s construction in the 1950s, ornamental aspects of socialist realist architecture, and ritual echoes of Nowa Huta’s pagan history. Together, these threads shape the fiction of a hidden social engineering DNA unfolding through collective gestures and rituals. Huge thanks to Łukasz Trzciński @art_as_it_should_be for the invitation and curation, to @dom_utopii & @laznianowa for hosting me, and to Małgorzata Szydłowska, @gosia_szymczyk_karnasiewicz , Tomasz Talerzak and @vievioorqa for their amazing support. Thank you @muzeum_archeologiczne_krakow for granting me access to the archives. It was a joy to collaborate with the brilliant dancer & choreographer @marta.wolowiec and with all the incredible performers — thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication:
Zbigniew Dominiak, Dariusz Ligęza, Magdalena Zabiegaj, Maria Kipek, Stefan Mazur, Zofia Gnoińska, Katarzyna Borysewicz, @ka.rostkowska , @gabryjsia , @amelia_paulina_janiec , @ottliwka , @doma_pawlowska , Monika Godek, Małgorzata Wolna, Bożena Skowronek, Maria Skowron. Deep gratitude also to the technical team: @kamilkrajewski , Sebastian & Agnieszka Jensz-Stawowczyk, Krzysztof Ridan, Paweł Goleniec, Agnieszka Kwiecień, and @adrianritchielistwan . The outcome of this project will be presented in September as part of Nowa Huta Odyssey, organized by @dom_utopii and @laznianowa . #nowahuta #socialistrealism #socrealizm #ceramics #performanceart

For his “Herz aus Glas” exhibition at La Cure, Yan Tomaszewski envisions a new ecosystem, halfway between science fiction and an imagined future. Using stoneware, blown glass, and minerals collected from the banks of the Bon Nant—the stream running through Saint-Gervais—the artist creates a unique and threatening creature that seems to emerge from a mineral desert. It could represent a transitional stage in the mutation of human, animal, or plant forms: we might be witnessing the appearance of a hybrid being, born of a forced adaptation to a radically altered environment.
