In the process of creating all this I’ve learned a lot. I’ve completely reshaped how I approach the filmmaking process. I’ve discovered what kind of stories I’m here to tell and gained a much clearer understanding of why we even do storytelling in the first place. I’ve learned how to appropriately lead, play my role, and accomplish things on my own. I’ve figured out how to take the art seriously without taking myself so seriously. I’m not sure how much I rlly wanted to be a filmmaker, but now I at least can see why I am one and how to move through life as such. Moving forward I won’t be thinking about these images very much as I’m much more focused on the things I’m creating next. But I will always be appreciative and grateful for this part of it. Thank you to all my mentors and collaborators who helped me get to this point. The next reel finna go crazzzyyy!

Since I could think critically, I’ve fathomed what this flag represents. Underneath the name, USA, is the land itself. Living on this land is us, a society operating based off inherited notions and ideologies developed centuries ago. Sometimes I say my generation was the guinea pig for social media. If this is the case, then all of us are the guinea pig of America. Yesterday while making my protest poster, I youtube educated myself about the Spirit of Wendigo. A monster like character in Native culture that eats everything, and as it eats it only becomes more hungry. While our vampires, ghosts, and robot villains are only a fantasy, our country is a real life manifestation of wendigo. The presence of this spirit within us starts and likely ends here on our soil. Slowly, our society is learning the way we have been taught to live for centuries is unsustainable and causes exponentially more suffering as it goes on. And from this, new leaders are arising with alternative visions. I don’t know what will happen next and there’s no reason to guess, but there is plenty of reason to imagine. The story for America and what this flag represents doesn’t have to be one about greed to a point of self destruction. Our collective character, our nation, can learn to see the world different and embrace change openly. We have the ability as a collective to make this flag represent something that works with the land, not against it, and allows us to share recourses thoughtfully within our communities. We are learning right now, that we don’t have to be stuck in a box trying to make America great, again. We can think outside the box to shape America into something it’s never been before. It’s not an individual effort, it’s a team effort, and in reality, everyone in America is on our side. Many of us don’t know our roles in this effort but more people are learning everyday what those may be. More of us are breaking away from the wendigo and manifesting ourselves as more compassionate humans on a new path. A path to a new America. The story is not over.

Was given an analog camera that hadn’t been used in 20 years. Photos turned out nice except for the fact the shutter only opened for half my roll. It’s possible the best photo I ever took in my entire life was in this roll and it was never actually taken, but we’ll never know. And yea.. hair is gone
