I finally made my own hiking stick, something I’ve wanted to do for a loooong time. I harvested a Eucalyptus branch 2 years ago and slowly let it dry. The wood was bleached with a natural process and the stone on top comes from a beach close to Redwood National Park. To finish it off I cut the stick in two and added a nut and screw thing so it can transported more easily. Can’t wait to make another one!

Our garden was featured in the San Diego Union Tribune today. It’s still a work in progress but I’m proud of what we have created so far, and grateful for all the wonderful people that have helped us along the way! I’ve lost a tooth while moving a boulder but I’ve gained a love for gardening that will stay with me forever!

From the sky to our cistern to the stove and finally to the hot tub. Rainy weather in Socal is the best cause I can play with fire and water at the same time! 😀
We planted 6 guava trees (Pineapple guava, Mexican white guava, Egyptian white guava, Lemon guava and 2x Strawberry guava) this spring and this one is already producing tasty, yet small, fruit for us! 😍

Under the big oak, next to our outdoor shower, I planted four elephant ear bulbs about three weeks ago. I guess they like their new home and runoff shower water! 😀😍
It’s such a joy to tend to our vegetable garden! Few things feel so meaningful as growing (part of) our own food. Instead of tucking these planters in the back of our garden we decided to give them a prominent spot, close to the kitchen, hopefully demonstrating that growing vegetables and herbs can be functional, and beautiful as well.
