Drapé at Gallery Ketabi Bourdet opening on April 4th 🌸🔥
‘Le Drapé’, or ‘The drapery,’ is often used to conceal bodies’ nudity in painting or sculpture . It has become a decorative and poetic element of art history. It symbolizes also absence and abandonment in domestic spaces. It is a full-fledged artistic form featuring innovative and original designs, such as Kuramata lamps, Kristian Gavoille table which integrate sculptural drapes. Drapery is also associated with notions of movement and freedom, sometimes combining with rigid architectural structures to create an exciting contrast like Philippe Starck or Portzamparc.
In this enigmatic and sensual group show, contemporary artists reinterpret drapery, blending it with figurative such as Yanma Fofana and abstract representations like Pauline d’Andigné.
They highlight its duality as an element that both conceals and reveals. Drapery is for ever a versatile and expressive artistic full of mistery 👀🌟
