My grandma took flight at 98 years old on 1/5/26. She was ready to see her mom again. Her last words to the family were “thank you” and “I love you.” She was the sweetest spot in a family filled with bitterness, and the main influence in my life, career and brand, Yang Face. We miss her kindness, but her wishes were answered to return to the celestial realm.

I heard someone talking about cultural stagnation due to a singular aesthetic of beauty with everyone starting to look the same. When this happens there can be less inspiration, less art, less diversity, and according to Chinese medicine, less life force. When a culture stagnates it becomes more controllable. It starts to lose its power. I think we all see this on a regular basis now - pictures of friend groups where everyone looks the same. Who is who? In fact, the more beauty is altered and taken away from its original face, the more blurry the features look to me. I can’t discern one ethnicity, age, lips, nose, eyes from another and it feels like a huge loss.
