This is the Qi65 from @yan.kbd . It’s really quite breathtaking in its design and aesthetic. The sound packed a good punch as well and it felt very plush to type on. Some minor adjustments are being made for the final production but man this is definitely one to keep your eyes on!

Lots of subtle detail and design lessons packed in this board. It features a heavy midpiece (steel, copper, or brass) and aluminum case pieces that sandwich the assembly with gaskets. It plays with bold lines and engravings throughout the design, emulating seams and tracing paths all around the entire board. Very impressive work that also provides the user a solid typing experience.

The Qi65 has a solid, confident typing feel: soft on impact but firm under your hands. Its Poron gaskets help shape a clean sound. Inside, the horizontal grooves focus acoustics, anti-bottom-out slots control resonance, and the spacebar relief fine-tunes the tone — all without using foam.
Today’s test features MX Blacks on the Qi65: a clacky sound with lclarity in each press. Simple, satisfying, and easy on the ears.

The Qi65 uses Poron gaskets for a clean, damped tone with a soft feel. EKH is ~22.94 mm with an 8.5° typing angle; front height ~18.2–18.5 mm. The four-piece shell (top, mid-frame, upper bottom, lower bottom) bolts together from the inside, fewer visible screws and less case ping. The mid-frame’s internal grooves aren’t just for looks; they shape the sound. Feet are diamond-shaped in two durometers (70A/80A) for grip and matchy aesthetics.
R2 updates fixed early quirks: longer gaskets (40 → 70 mm), thicker strips for better pressure, and a redesigned spacebar relief.
Build flow reminds me of Keycult No.2. follow the guide and it’s smooth. Also, the shrink-wrapped JST cable makes routing painless. I’d love magnetic screws next time.

First solo design from Ryan, sparked by a “which board should I buy?” chat that turned into months of CAD practice and trial-and-error. The Qi65 is a 65% WK with a four-part aluminum case and a proud, visible mid-frame, straight lines, sharp profile, and a seal-script “啟” mark that stands for “Start.”
Heavy doesn’t even begin to cover it: ~2.65–3.00 kg depending on the mid-frame (stainless ≈ 2.65 kg, brass ≈ 2.85 kg, copper ≈ 3.00 kg). Plates in alu / CF / PP (full or half), 1.6 mm PCB with VIA/QMK, and a carry case in the box. Colorways include grey sand, light sand, dark grey, ink green, silver moon, and raw, plus powder-coated mid-frames.
