“The Ohio, Texas Remix” is coming to a festival near you very very soon!! If you’re in Wilmington you can catch us at the @ncblackfilm next weekend, and in the coming months at a few others I’m not allowed to mention just yet. Now that the dust has settled, I wanted to send a big CONGRATS to wifey @mikalagibson for completing the requirements to receive her Master of Fine Arts in Theatrical Directing from @utaustintx ! This past three years have been challenging to say the least, but we put the 90, 10 rule into practice and pushed through. So very very proud of you baby and I know that this is about to lead to so many great things.
I’m excited to be included in the speakers lineup of the inaugural KUT Festival taking place May 1st and 2nd at various locations around the city! I’ll be speaking about Austin (and Texas more broadly) as a film destination. I’m on the panel with some amazing people that I both adore and have much respect for. @martinjonesfilms and @speedyhazelnut are both doing important work in Austin. Beyond the panel I’m on, the festival is a weekend of conversations about where this city is headed, plus music, food, and community. Excited to announce that the feature doc I had the pleasure of directing this past summer will have its world premiere at this year’s @americanblackfilmfestival ! I’ve screened here five times and won awards, but this is my first time attending with a feature film. Thanks for always showing love and for seeing the passion that this team poured into making this beautiful piece. What a way to start this Black History Month. I left the @dentonbff with three awards tonight. Best Texas Short Film, an honorable mention for Best Short Film AND the EPIC Filmmaker award. So honored to end the run of THE OHIO, TEXAS REMIX on such a high note. We did it. We’re doing it. We will keep doing it BIG. Congrats to all the nominees, my fellow winners and to everyone that’s out here making work with the intention of shifting the atmosphere. As I said in my speech: “if we are nothing else as artists, we are witnesses.” Keep witnessing. Keep toppling these regimes that seek to destroy us. Keep using your art as a weapon. Until next time…

Happy anniversary baby. So much has changed these past 21 years. So much growth. So many dreams fulfilled, yet so many still hanging in the annals of time waiting to come to pass. We’ve built such a full life together, one with all the laughs, tears, disappointments, highs and lows that come with building something that has never existed before. We’re now officially legal, so let’s get to work doing all the things that we’re destined to do, and becoming all that we’re destined to become. These next 20-years will be proof that there’s no limit to how high we can soar. Love you more than life itself @mikalagibson !
