Academeia x Fylkingen: Son Of Chi [Live] Academeia journeys north, landing in Stockholm for a special collaboration with Fylkingen—home to experimental and boundary-pushing sound since the 1930s. For this occasion, we present a rare live appearance by cult ambient figure Hanyo, performing as Son Of Chi. Known for his esoteric sonic landscapes, Hanyo's legacy traces back to The Chi Factory, the elusive ambient project co-piloted with Ario. Their releases—often longform, meditative journeys spanning 30-minute passages—have carved a distinct space in electronic music collections worldwide. These deeply atmospheric works, shrouded in mystery and ancient textures, offer no easy answers—only immersion. Join us for a night of transcendental sound and collective presence in one of Stockholm’s most iconic listening spaces. He puts on a new Son of Chi album with Fulani vocalist Omar Ka, which will soon be released under the name ‘We Carry Eden’. The studio living room fills up with poet Robert Lax in the intro of the music and we zoom out together. Hanyo: ‘Astral Industries decided not to release my new Son of Chi projects. I felt sad about this for almost two years, but it was time to move on. I highly respect everything Ario of Astral Industries has done for me. I would have loved to work together for at least another seven years, but we will always be connected somehow. With Subjugated, @responsednb offers a cinematic and deeply textural meditation on resistance, memory, and atmospheric density. The Manchester based artist, departing from his signature drum & bass and techno articulations, forms a continuous passage with these nine extended compositions drawing from ambient, dub, and noise to form a continuous passage—over an hour in length—where sonic decay and submerged rhythm trace the contours of tension and release. Filmic in structure and somber in tone, Subjugated finds its visual counterpart in a 6-minute video work shot during the December demonstrations in Tbilisi, Georgia. Protest, fog, and flickering streetlight serve not as backdrop but as an extension of the record’s core—the quiet endurance beneath upheaval. Pre-order now available via Bandcamp.
