It's taken ages. Too long. But the debut album is finally here.
Truthfully, XY&O was never really supposed to be a 'band'. It was a pseudonym I used to write songs under. I experimented with different sounds and ideas and then me and Tudor wrote an idea which became Low Tide.
The response to Low Tide, on SoundCloud was so incredible that we decided to officially release the song and become a real 'band'. Nick joined soon after as the guitarist and another writer.
Fast forward nine years, some of which were lost to the pandemic. Some which were lost to personal issues and some which were lost on purpose.
Nick left the band in 2020 to pursue other interests and Tudor left soon after to take a different path in music. I miss him.
It took me a long time to piece together and finish the songs for this album.
XY&O is a DIY project. No management, no label, no agents, self-funded and self-driven. I don't know what to say or do on social media, it's never been about the 'content'. It's always been about the songs.
I'm so thankful to everyone that listens, streams and plays my music. Since Low Tide right up to today. All I ever wanted to do was write, sing and listen to songs and your support has enabled me to do it for a living. For that, I'll be eternally grateful.
I have to thank
@leehousecreates for all his work recording and mixing the album. He has been a constant creative partner since day one. Also to
@soundquakesam who I wrote Marigold and Mayday with and
@aubreyrossmusic who co-wrote Chase the Sun.
Another thank you to
@mikedorner and
@semitruck.studio for their single and album artwork over the years. The photo on the album cover is a shot by
@sly.panda who also took the album promo photos.
I have to thank my wife
@alexlcurtis for much more than just this album to be honest. But spare a thought for her, as she has had to listen to me writing all these songs in our spare rooms over the years...
Penultimately, thanks to
@tudormusic and
@nickelly11 for the songs we wrote and for being part of the journey. We spent many days (and daze) together.
Lastly, thank you, to you, for listening and playing the music.
You made XY&O real. Stay tuned.
