The ancient Egyptians believed in the existence of a sacred water cycle of speech: words could metamorphose into water droplets as they passed through the ear, warming within the body before becoming gas expelled through the mouth. A conversation between two people thus took the form of liquid words, dispersing into the air, carried by clouds, and precipitated with the rain. If the listener was not attentive, the message was forever excluded and eventually evaporated. "One thousand and One Water Droplets" records the deferred exchanges between two young girls, beginning on the island of Nosy Be in Madagascar. They used an ancient encrypted Chinese writing system called "Nüshu" (literally meaning "women's writing" in Chinese) as a code or secret in their conversations. This "code" refers more to the unknown than deliberately withheld information. "Nüshu" was not regulated by linguistic rules but was based on the local dialect's writing, preserving information permanently. These messages contained deferred, ambiguous, and displaced information, offering infinite pleasure in the rotation, permutation, and combination of words. Thus, this text becomes an underwater symphony of interconnections and ruptures, where words vanish and give birth to a liquid and eternal universe before your eyes. Dedicated to my dear friend Fiona “One thousand and one Water Droplets”, written by Uta Guan Hyë Dimensions: 14x20 cm, 22 pp.The cover is crafted from 270g Grain Nuage color paper, while the inner pages are made from a 100g Ingres Pastel pink paper. All binding is handmade.

Caribbean petroglyphs studies vol.1: Karukera The Arawaks were an Amerindian people who lived throughout the Caribbean between 4000 and 2000 BC, using the Orinoco as a pathway to the coast. They were the first inhabitants of Guadeloupe, which they originally named Karukera, meaning "island of beautiful waters." Like many other communities in this latitude, they formed some of the first societies of abundance, reflecting their environment. Victims of Spanish and French colonization starting in the 16th century, they experienced decline and near-disappearance. However, their legacy persists today in Guadeloupe, notably through the petroglyphs they left on the island. This book collects drawings of these petroglyphs made during the summer of 2019 in an area encompassing the town of Capesterre-Belle-Eau, the Bananier River, the Peru River, the Archaeological Park of Trois Rivières, Petit Carbet to the east, and the Plessis River in Bouillante. The book does not aim for completeness or scientific precision, and the drawings are presented randomly, without any direct reference to their exact geographical location. It is the natural gesture of imitation, a desire for direct knowledge, and a fraternal gathering that brings these drawings together. 청옥青玉(Sapphire) Kim Ki-duk (December 20, 1960 - December 11, 2020) was a South Korean filmmaker who had once dreamed of becoming a priest. He spent two years at the monastery, then lived in Paris from 1990 to 1992, earning a living by selling his paintings. In 1996, after returning to Korea, he directed his first feature film, "Crocodile," which marked the beginning of his unique and intense career as a director. In the spring of 2018, I received a photo of him with his film crew for the film "青玉" / Sapphire that he was producing near a lake in Yunnan, China. This film remained unfinished since his death. We met in the summer of 2017 in Paris and stayed in touch for a year by phone, sporadically sharing various documents. Among them were these six calligraphy drawings that he made for the film “青玉”/Sapphire, which we present here in this special edition. There is an intimate and unpublished character to this publication, as these calligraphies have never been made public before. The title of this book: 청옥(青玉:qīng yù) is a type of tremolite jade that appears gray-green and/or black-green. In Korean, it means "Sapphire." "青玉" does not refer to the gem itself, but to a color, which is a kind of blue. A 10-page book printed, 13 x 21 cm, with a translucent paper cover and color printing. Language: French, English, Chinese This is a humble tribute to a friend. Glad to announce the release of “Le Premier Repas de la Vierge”, a collection of short texts composed by Uta Guan Hyë in 2023, the first publication of XYÄ edition. "Le premier repas de la vierge" explores Uta's dream series from 2022 and incorporates various aspects of her daily experiences, including physical and auditory sensations. The dreams’ psychological context exists within the network of associations that naturally take root in the dream. Uta takes into account the various contextual relationships and applies them to the dreams‘ texts, which provides all the necessary clues for understanding. The index includes not just one but several texts, moving from the whole to fragments. The consummation of the text involves two different writers: the dreamer and the author, who are one and the same. The dreamer records the dreams as they happen, while the author rename and reinterpret them. Like in alchemy, the dream is transformed, with the author delving deeper into its imagery through the work of expanding technology and active imagination, distilling and elucidating its sacred and rich meanings, transforming them into concrete and spatial poetry. The author depicts the dreamer walking through a maze, striving to approach the unfathomable point in the dreamer's psyche. The author interrupts the dreamer's spontaneous movement, excavating the unconscious mind and personifying it as a diverse cast of "strangers" - boys, women, animals, and letters who "can only be listened to/watched but not interfered with" These themes encompass not only the archetype of the dreamer but also the relationship with a real woman who is simultaneously a mother, a personality, and a vessel of spirituality. The author dissects this woman and her manifestations, breaking her down into the unconscious, accompanied by the author's deep self-experience and guiding the dreamer out of the labyrinth on a symbolic path. “High Latency Communication”, music score by Allan Gilbert Balon, 2nd publication of XYÄ edition. "High Latency Communication" is a performance for three musicians (piano, tuba, and voice) who explore the idea that communion may be predicated on the obscurity of a message and its natural envelope - sound. The double obstacle that water imposes on the discourse (temporal and physiological limits) is intended to shed light on the Word itself, which paradoxically finds its naked vibratory nature freed from the communicative function ordinarily imposed by the code, the very object of language. By merging musical time with lived time, the composer engages in a free reflection on ecology and the qualia of presence. The articulated sound of the voice mixed with the sound of the instrument evokes the destiny of the human being and their biotope. The musician will use this one as a signal of his own psychogeography, of his own light seeking despite the arid constraints of the exercise a viable mode of expression for this ephemeral community that they embody. The lifespan of this work depending on their innovation and their resilience.   A3 tracing paper accompanied by an audio tape (format: 27 min) recording of two performances that took place in Chicago on June 26, 2022, with Matthew Riggen, Andy Klingensmith, and Janna Lee, released by the House of Saturn label©. Limited to 40 copies. XYÄ edition 002, 2023 More info on xyä.org
