Since discovering House on CJSR in 1987, he went on to help build the city’s rave scene, support and share stages with international artists like The Chemical Brothers and Paul Oakenfold, and hold a long-running afterhours residency while mentoring emerging DJs. A longtime collaborator with DJ Lace, he co-founded the forward-thinking Underground Rescue Channel, an early livestream platform that predated modern streaming culture. Today, through Nyte People Collective, Dragan continues to push the scene forward while reconnecting it to its roots—and for this night at Fluid, he’ll be bringing that depth and experience into a special set focused on Liquid Drum & Bass. Today is the day my friend took his life. And every year, this day sits on my chest like something heavy I can’t move. I could have stayed up that night, I vividly remember being slightly annoyed and thinking it was just another one of his moods.. And so I made the choice to say goodnight - to the ladies (you know who you are), and to him. And he didn’t wake up. That truth has lived inside me for years. It’s a quiet kind of guilt — the kind that doesn’t scream, it just lingers. The kind that whispers “what if” when the world gets quiet. I carry it in my heart. I feel it in my throat. I will probably always carry it. Grief isn’t just missing someone. Sometimes it’s replaying moments over and over, wishing you could step back into them and choose differently. I can’t go back. I can’t undo that night. But I can choose who I am now because of it. I will not turn my back on someone who is hurting. I will answer the late-night calls. I will stay a little longer. I will sit in the dark with you if I have to. His absence taught me something devastating and permanent: sometimes people are fighting battles we can’t see the full weight of. My heart is heavy today. It always will be on this date. But if my guilt turns into anything good, let it be this — I will never choose sleep over someone’s pain again. If you are struggling, please don’t do it alone. Stay. Reach out. Let someone stay up with you. I wish I had known how much that night mattered.. #mentalhealthmatters #grief
