We are very excited to launch our new programme of work from Sheffield-based artist @lucyvann Link in bio The programme features selections from Lucy’s extensive video practice, that offer a comedic portal to communicate work/home life mundanity, outdoor observations and uncanny interruptions. Announcing The Garden the third screening in the pilot series at Morecambe Library, Lancashire: 30/11/22 - 19:30 The Garden (1990) - a film by Derek Jarman This intimate insight into Jarman's inner world was shot on fragile Super8 with the help of friends and collaborators, movingly utilising a cast of iconic, religious figures that include Jesus, Judas and the Madonna. We are excited to be able to share Skin and Coal (1987) a documentary by Claudine Boothe on xviix for 1 week - 02/11/22 - 09/11/22 Skin and Coal was produced by Social Film and Video, a black film company and directed by Claudine Boothe. It tells the story of two generations of black miners and their families who lived and worked in Doncaster, Leeds and Nottingham. There is no voice-over commentary; the miners speak for themselves. Thanks again to everyone that came last night to our screening of Claudine Boothe’s Skin and Coal, the second in our pilot screening programme. Details of the next screening coming soon! Great to see so many people at Visions in/of the North West last night, in our ad hoc cinema at Morecambe Library. Such a great energy in the room, and looking forward to the next one! We are happy to announce xviix are facilitating a series of physical screening events in Morecambe Library, Lancashire. The first screening - Visions in/of the North West is a screening of short films made in the North West including Blackpool, Preston, Leeds, Solway Firth and Pendle, reflecting a rich and diverse filmmaking culture within the region. Featuring films by: Julia Parks, Chris Paul Daniels, Chantal Oakes, Anna Raczynski, Ciáran Wood.
