Woman Jailed After Violent Assault and Posting Footage Online

A woman from Spennymoor has been jailed after carrying out a violent attack and later sharing footage of the incident on social media.
On Sunday, 6 July, Kelsey Bainbridge, of Ox Close Crescent, Spennymoor, was involved in a violent confrontation during which she struck a male victim with a plate. During the same incident, she was also found to be in possession of an offensive weapon — a shovel.
The court heard that Bainbridge also assaulted a female victim, striking her with a wine bottle. Footage of the incident was later posted online, bringing the violence to public attention and prompting concern from members of the community.
Police were alerted after the video circulated on social media, and officers launched an investigation which led to Bainbridge’s arrest.
Bainbridge appeared before the court and pleaded guilty to attempted wounding with intent in relation to the male victim she struck with the plate. She also admitted possessing an offensive weapon during the incident.
She denied a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against the female victim but admitted a lesser offence of wounding without intent.
Bainbridge was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. The judge took into account the seriousness of the violence, the use of weapons, and the impact on those involved.
Police and prosecutors stressed that violent behaviour — particularly when weapons are involved — carries serious consequences.
