Day 13/30 DigiWatercolor #pleinairpril! 🦩 Today I wanted to play with color contrast, and thought this moment when visiting @gatorland_orlando last December would be perfect. Flamingos look so cool, and kinda derpy lol. @warriorpainters #pleinairpril2026 #flamingo #watercolor #colorkey

Day 14 DigiWatercolor #pleinairpril ! Two weeks in!! Sailing through the river in Bangkok, from our visit a few months ago. The temples looked like shimmering dreams at night, and I wanted to capture that. @warriorpainters #bangkok #thailand #visualdevelopment #watercolor

Osaka Castle from a DigiWatercolor made last year, showcasing some of the brushes I made that I don’t use too often, the splatter cluster brush. It worked great for simplifying the tree shapes. I didn’t get to visit the castle at golden hour, but I wanted to make something warm and monochromatic! #osaka #digiwatercolor #japan #colorkey #conceptart

A repost of the Pleinair Airplein that started it all! The first DigiWatercolor done last year for PleinAirpril, and my first experiments using real watercolor grains I painted, and scanned to use as overlays, and paper textures to give the look of a real watercolor while replicating the same steps as close as I could. There’s a lot of textures here that I ended up simplifying later that looking at this again I’d like to bring back in a more controlled way. #plane #digiwatercolor #watercolor #visualdevelopment #pleinairpril

Day 30/30 of #pleinairpril (finally!) Reference from a warm but cold morning earlier this year. I often see this crazy tree in the morning, and on that particular day, we had some fog which made it look ethereal to me. It reminded me that they’re so alive, and as unique as each individual is. Happy to complete the set of 30, but also looking forward to building more memories! #digiwatercolor #colorkey #visualdevelopment #conceptart

Fushimi Inari, Kyoto Japan. Another piece I really enjoyed working on last year’s PleinAirpril. The red paint in these gates were very difficult to capture on photographs, and they’re already so tricky to work with in watercolors. I tried capturing it as best as I could, but also not as vibrant as they truly were. They’re SO vibrant! Process on the last slide! #digiwatercolor #fushimiinari #kyoto #japan #visualdevelopment

DigiWatercolor of Ubud’s monkey forest, from our honeymoon in Bali a few years ago. This piece was made for last year’s PleinAirpril! Posting the reference in my story. Visiting the temple was a great experience, but also a bit scary. The monkeys can be quite erratic, and it made me have my guard up the whole time. Just as I let my guard down as we left the temple, one of the outcast monkeys ran towards me, and yanked my hand sanitizer from my bag, quickly running away with it and proceeding to unscrew the lip and chugging what little was left… I guess no drunken monkeys are allowed to go into the temple. #digiwatercolor #bali #indonesia #visualdevelopment #monkeys

Derpy and Sussie from KpopDH in DigiWatercolor! I made the painting last year, and had some fun editing the video, so I thought I’d share the process again! The video edits to beats bring me back to making Anime Music Videos in Windows Movie Maker with my brother years ago 🄷 šŸ˜‚ sorry not sorry for whoever is tired of the song! #kpopdemonhunters #digiwatercolor #visualdevelopment #fanart #cat

Hope all the moms had a great Mother’s Day! A mother and her chicks. 🐄 This piece was requested by my mother, and I couldn’t deny her especially on her day! It was incredibly fun to paint and play with the composition, and lighting. I wanna paint some chickens in traditional watercolor now! #digiwatercolor #chickens #mothersday #visualdevelopment #colorkey

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers out there!! Simple, and bright DigiWatercolor today from photo ref from Pinterest! This was a 1 hour sketch done as a relighting exercise with other concept artists at work a couple of weeks ago. Working in this watercolor style means I give up some of the speed I could get by painting opaquely over everything, but there’s some charm to it, and sticking to the steps. It was also nice to challenge myself to achieving a piece in 1 hour instead of the usual 2-3 hours the rest would take. I had a lot of fun and loved seeing what my coworkers and friends did relighting their scenes! #colorandlight #digiwatercolor #cabin #visualdevelopment #art

Revisiting the water temple in Ubud, Bali from last year’s PleinAirpril. This was one of the first pieces where I tried drastically changing the lighting and mood from what I was originally looking at reference wise. Photos seldom show lighting as we truly see it which is why it’s important for us to make note of it, and push the lighting in the references we have to either better reflect what we experienced, enhance a moment, or otherwise change the mood. Process on the last slide! #digiwatercolor #visualdevelopment #bali #temple #conceptart
