Dix titres tendus comme des câbles, parfois agressifs, souvent dansants, toujours instables. Zeal Minus, c’est la rencontre à distance entre deux artistes qui ne se sont jamais vus mais dont le projet est devenu une évidence sonore. D’un côté, Infinite Livez, MC londonien passé par Ninja Tune au début des années 2000, aujourd’hui installé à Berlin, connu pour ses textes surréalistes, son flow imprévisible et sa capacité à passer de taiseux à volcanique en un claquement de langue. De l’autre, Sylvain Ehinger (aka Xewin), producteur vaudois obsédé par les machines, les synthés qui grincent et les beats qui claquent. Ensemble, ils revendiquent le zéro intelligence artificielle, mais beaucoup d’accidents heureux, de bricolage et d’émotion brute. L’alchimie entre la précision chirurgicale des prods et la liberté presque chamanique du MC revient souvent dans les critiques. Elle s’est pourtant construite sans effort, presque sans discussions. Peu d’allers-retours, beaucoup de confiance, confie Xewin. Une seule rencontre physique, pour de vrai, avant de monter sur scène l’été dernier au Rock am Wind dans la Vallée de Joux. TASTY SWISS PILLS🇨🇭 Today on my devices Take the avant-garde of British rap and the precision of Swiss electronic production and you get Zeal Minus. The English rapper Infinite Livez and the Swiss producer Xewin have been sharing a remote creative journey for three years between Switzerland and Berlin, where Infinite Livez records his vocals. Next February, Zeal Minus will release their debut album “All 4 Nothing” (Esc.rec.). I haven’t fully explored it yet, but after the first single “BTL” and the second double single “Sonic & Tails” / “Stay High 149”, my curiosity has been well and truly sparked. Since this morning, “Sonic & Tails” has been on repeat on my devices — an electronic exercise in which the avant-garde and experimental spirit of this partnership emerges powerfully.
