Back in August I was lucky enough to find myself in Montreal rehearsing alongside 30 brilliant dancers as we learned Bolero X to perform with Ballet BC as they toured Montreal & Ottawa. What began as a trip riddled with imposter syndrome became one of my proudest achievements as an artist. To my fellow dancers, y’all are the best, the future is in good hands with the amount of poise, innovation and kindest you all contain as artists, to nerd out about dance with everyone was quite the treat. And to the faculty that helped us cross the finish line, a massive thank you for seeing everyone and allowing their voices to be heard, one of the safest spaces I have been in to play & explore. Thank you to the NAC for including me, the experience itself was a rich one that I will hold close as I continue to learn and push my limits in what I do. Here’s some memories from that time along with a part of the documentary that was just released!
“Where do I begin?”
WhatTheKidsAreIntooo (WTKAI) has been an island where I went to wander and forge time for art. However I always seemed to be anchored to the bottom of my depths by hesitancy & I’m glad I finally got that out of my system and can finally breathe, actualizing what this can be.
WTKAI, is where I’ll be making and selling clothing. Whether they were designed, or hand drawn by myself.
Art influenced by my life in some interesting and probably foolish ways, that could potentially spark a conversation or an opinion, who knows.
I just love to make, it’s all I know how to do so why not explore it further, and that I shall.
We’ll see how this goes.

Here is an excerpt entitled “Sam’s Office” a solo I performed to Is/Not by my dear friend @sasha.cay
A very personal exploration, Ink Died Eyes follows Sam, a young writer as he delves into his next creation, writing a new novel. Tormented by the lack of depth in his decisions and clueless drafts upon drafts, he finds himself getting lost with no direction as he gets a visit from paranoia. With the two we explore the hold that this wasteful act of thinking in circles has on Sam & its control it has on him. A causation of doubt and self loathing.

With now having had sometime to reflect I would have thought the words would flow out but I still struggle with how to articulate my gratitude. What started as an idea concocted while swinging at a park in the middle of the night, to actually have it now be a show still doesn’t feel real. I want to thank each and every person who helped put this show together, from the audience members so gracious enough to buy a ticket to watch our art, those that promoted and spread the word, my immediate family who was there when it got stressful, and especially to each fantastic dancer that stepped on to the stage, your dedication and commitment made the show what it was. To Simone my duet partner, thank you for being supportive, and understanding every rehearsal and wanting to help with the vision of my piece. To Nigel & Sofia thank you for your trust, flexibility and openness through out the process, what you both brought to the show was necessary and poignant, I cannot wait to see your voices as artists be heard more and more because you deserve it. And last but certainly not least the boys. My co producers, Remy & Justin. The brotherhood we have is something I hold close, the fact we were able to execute this idea and sell out our first show THAT’S INSANE, I learned so much from the process and have grown and matured along the way which would not have been possible without you both by my side for the ride, so thank you!
