Löthgren (@lottahlothgren ). Through their letters, they reflect on the biggest questions in life — meaning, creativity and belonging — as well as the quiet details of everyday life: the ever-changing seasons, the art of making. The collection features 12 timeless and practical knitting patterns, each inspired by their surroundings: the landscape, its atmosphere and the ever-changing weather. VÄLKOMMEN hit - jag heter Erika Åberg. Här delar jag ögonblick av min vardag på Gotland, centralt mitt i Östersjön med min familj. Jag är författare, folkbildare, formgivare och arbetar med slöjd och handgjort skapande på olika sätt; leder resor hit och långt bort med tema vandring, ull och kulturarv - ofta tillsammans med @redfoxtravelsweden . Jag undervisar och gör böcker om stickning, ull och slöjd - tio titlar utgivna i Sverige än så länge. Jag läser, simmar i havet året om, går långt, lyfter tungt och har en strävhårig tax. Läser poesi, skriver, sjunger, dricker ohemula mängder kaffe - helst vid en brasa vid havet. Stickar, målar, bakar och söker sammanhang som ger resonans och efterklang i kropp, själ och tanke. Lika delar lek, liv och allvar. Ibland på vift - ibland i min ateljé mitt i världsarvet. // WELCOME to this space - my name is Erika Åberg and this is where I share moments of my everyday life on Island Gotland in the middle of the Baltic Sea with my family. I work as a knitwear designer, tour leader leading tours where we travel and learn more about wool, knitting, cultural heritage and crafts as we walk, knit and experience together- often together with @redfoxtravelsweden . I teach, I design and write books; as of yet ten titles published in Swedish. I read a lot, I swim in the Sea all year around, walk and lift heavy and have a brilliant companion in my wirehaired dachshund Britta. i enjoy silence, music the company of myself and others, friends and family. I read poetry, I write, bake and sing. I drink coffee - preferably by a fire as close to the Sea as the wind allows. I knit, make, paint and look for contexts private and workwise that gives resonance and echo of the soul, body and mind. Heartfelt, kind and gentle. Third and final talk of the #peatvestalong - Meg Rodger of the @the_birlinn_yarn_company joined me and we talked about, wool, art, yarn and the landscape of Berneray. We spoke about the colours of the vest and I showed the four ones I’ve knitted (so far) using Megs yarn. En härva handspunnet garn av ull från kära vänners gård på Sudret. Mycket ull kvar att tvätta, karda, spinna och tvinna. Tids nog blir det en kofta eller tröja av gutefårsull. Bara en sådan sak. Vi hämtade vackra ägg från Bro, jag bakade banankaka med nötter och drack kaffe. Syrenen och klematisen blommar snart och i morgon kan vi nog skörda den tredje omgången glasrabarber. Britta hjälper oss att vila, vara här och nu. Rörelse, vila och ett andetag efter det andra. En maska efter den andra. Jag är här, vi är här. // A precious skein of handspun wool from dear friends Gute sheep in Fide. Lots of wool left to wash, process and spin. In due time, I will knit myself a cardigan, my first in Gute sheep wool. Imagine that. Today we bought beautiful eggs from Bro and I baked a nutty banana cake and enjoyed it with hot coffee. Our lilacs and clematis will bloom soon and tomorrow we can probably harvest the third round of forced rhubarb. @taxenbritta helps us to rest, to be here and now. MARS Före april kom mars. Försiktig vår med ljuset, värmen och livet som kom åter. Som kommer åter. Livet som utmanar och ibland segrar. Jag arbetade, förberedde och försökte släppa taget om det jag inte kan förändra. Fokusera på den handlingskraft jag har. Vi förberedde boksläpp och jag spenderade timmar och åter timmar på lasarettet. Mars kom med starten på efterlängtad resesäsong och ljusare dagar. Med blommor, lammungar och kaffe på trappan. Jag önskade mig mycket av april som inte blev som kunde förutsett. Eller så kunde vi det men vågade inte tro att magkänslan kunde ha rätt. Vi gör vad vi kan för att hitta en väg framåt. // MARCH Before April came March. Gentle spring with the light, warmth and life that came back, that does return despite everything. Life that challenges and sometimes wins. I worked, prepared and tried to let go of what I cannot change. Focus on the power of action I have. We were preparing for the book releases and I spent hours and hours in the hospital. March came with the start of the long-awaited travel season and brighter days. With flowers, lambs and coffee outside. I wished a lot for April that did not turn out as we could have predicted. Or we could have but did not dare to believe that our gut feeling could be right. APRIL kom med ljus, värme och ovisshet. Maktlöshet,sorg och förtvivlan. Tuvor av lugn, arbetsglädje och vänskap att hoppa emellan. Påsk på Holmhällar med kära vänner och en dag i taget. En solig, snäll vandringsgrupp här hemma på ön och vår bok som kom. Ön och skogen kom och landade hos er; och med det också hos och i oss. Vi firade @valdar.aberg 22 år här hemma, med tårta vid havet och solen sken. Mitt april blev tyngre än jag klarade av med fjäderlätta ögonblick. Som när jag fick fira bok och livet med er och med kära vänner; det hade helt enkelt inte gått utan er. Jag längtar tills vi är på andra sidan av det vi går igenom nu. Vi tar dagarna timme för timme. April var andetag för andetag, sol och blåsippor. Ljuvliga middagar hos @lottahlothgren , porlande snälla vatten och ett steg till. En dag till. April doftade vårregn, kaffe och hav. Nytryckt bok, ull och vårvarm, småländsk skog. Maj. Kom med läkning och vila. // APRIL came with light, warmth and uncertainty. Helplessness, sorrow and despair. Tufts of calm, work joy and friendship to jump between. Easter at Holmhällar with dear friends and one day at a time. A sunny, kind hiking group at home on the island and our book arrived. @the.island.and.the.forest came and landed with you; and with that also with and in us. We celebrated our 22 y old, with cake by the sea and the sun was shining. My April became heavier than heavy with featherlight moments. I got to celebrate our book and life with you and dear friends; It simply wouldn’t have been possible without you. I can’t wait until we’re on the other side of what we are going through at the moment. We take the days hour by hour. April was breath by breath, sun and anemones of all colours. Lovely dinners at @lottahlothgren and her hand in mine, kind waters and one more step, one more day. April smelled of spring rain, coffee and sea. MULM I går morse, vid Högklint. Kära @lottahlothgren var här och fångande min Mulm med två mönsterfärger i Sårk från @gotlandsspinneri - nu har hon åkt hem till skogen över havet. Mulm är det andra plagget i Jord- kapitlet och är ett av @lottahlothgren s plagg, kanske mitt favoritplagg. This is the second pattern in the Earth chapter of @the.island.and.the.forest - one of @lottahlothgren s designs, perhaps my favourite.
