Thursday, 4/16, 10pm-12am: Mixed Reality features special guest DJ Apah (@im_apah ) to rock the airwaves with a selection of bass-heavy sounds. 💥💥
Apah is a Durham-based sound design savant who is not afraid to push boundaries in their sets. Playing shows all over the east coast, they have shared the stage with the likes of GRRL, Zen Selekta, and Mantra Sounds, to name a few. Tonight, expect to have your notion of "danceable" music challenged as Apah turns things up to eleven. 🎛️🎛️
Tune in for a mixed reality experience at 88.7fm or at wxdu.org. 📻 📡
Thursday, 4/2, 10pm-12am: Adam Graetz touches down in the WXDU studio as thefacesblur (@thefacesblur ) for an electric live mix spanning house, electro, breaks, and more. 👽 👽
Durham-based producer/visual artist/VJ/DJ Adam Graetz draws inspiration from the darker corners of electronic music, bringing an immersive, hypnotic signature style to both visual and sonic expression. As a visual artist he has worked with David Lynch, Robert Hood, and DJ Seinfeld; as a DJ he’s provided support for the likes of Eli Brown and John Summit. Locally, Adam runs Durham’s premiere party for house and techno, The Floor (@thefloor919 ), and is a key creative component of The Fruit. 🪩
Tune in for a mixed reality experience at 88.7fm or at wxdu.org. 📻 📡
The panel will begin at 7 p.m. and will be an opportunity to discuss multidisciplinary creative practices — focusing specifically on the intersections of literature, sound, and music. With a long-standing residency at The Fruit, Ian has transformed the sound of Durham's electronic music scene through his "deep acid tech" selections. As he evolves his sound into a new alias - custodian (@custodian.of.sound ) - WXDU is honored to present his final DJ set as Ian Stewart. 🛸🛸
