ABOUT WILL
WILLIAM WEDIG is an Appalachian-born filmmaker whose voice is shaped by the rugged landscapes of his Ohio upbringing and by a deep-rooted empathy for the overlooked. With over two decades in the industry, he’s worked on projects that have screened at Sundance, Toronto International, and beyond, but it’s his unflinching eye toward emotional precision that sets him apart.
His debut feature, Rise of the Dead, was released through Lionsgate, followed by Forged, which won Best Picture at the HBO New York Latino Film Festival. Drawn to stories of survival, isolation, and quiet resilience, Wedig crafts textured, often haunting films that carry a brutal tenderness and a fierce authenticity. Whether working in commercials, live action, animation, or cutting edge docuseries, his work echoes with the voice of someone who knows how hard life can hit—and how beauty still rises from it.

My first Sundance was 2006, having post-supervised a film at only 22 years old called Salvage. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve made 9 pilgrimages to Park City. And this final Sundance there has a bittersweet tinge to it.
As the final festival in PC closes, I can’t help but reminisce on my many trips out there over the years. Here’s to the friends and memories I’ve made and here’s to many more in the future!
