At the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues World Union of Indigenous Spiritual Practitioners stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples from across the world who are continuing to raise their voices, share their truths, and shape global conversations on their own terms.
Across side events and gatherings, including discussions on Indigenous responses to global crises and territorial challenges, one message remained clear: Indigenous Peoples are not only responding to global challenges — they are offering grounded, self-determined pathways forward rooted in responsibility to land, community, and future generations.
As WUISP, we remain committed to supporting these spaces where Indigenous spiritual, cultural, and political voices are centered and respected. We hold hope — and responsibility — that these voices are not only heard in moments like these, but carried into lasting structural change.
На заседании Постоянного форума Организации Объединенных Наций по вопросам коренных народов Всемирный союз коренных духовных практиков (WUISP) выражает солидарность с коренными народами со всего мира, которые продолжают заявлять о себе, делиться своей правдой и формировать глобальный диалог на своих условиях.

At the 25th session of #UNPFII, Wayfinders Circle convened a packed audience for a dialogue focused on how ancestral knowledge, spirituality, and lived experience guide communities through conflict and crisis.
Indigenous members representing the Blackfoot Confederacy, Heiltsuk Nation, the Sungai Utik Community (Indonesia), and Sámi lands (Sweden) shared reflections grounded in their territories and responsibilities to future generations.

Today, during the U.N. Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the Wayfinders Circle delivered a powerful collective statement about the importance of all levels of government codifying Free, Prior and Informed Consent, as referenced in the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻
The statement was given by Maria Martin (@heiltsukcouncil ) with Wayfinders from Blackfoot Confederacy, the Sungai Utik community of Dayak Iban people, the Sami of @samiid_riikkasearvi as well as the @wuisp_argabilig .

In this spirit, we invite you to experience “Walking with the Earth: Nomadic Indigenous Peoples, Traditional Wisdom and Global Futures” — an exhibition that brings forward the voices, knowledge systems, and living traditions of Indigenous nomadic communities from Asia to Africa. Through their art and stories, we witness ways of being that are rooted in care, balance, and deep reciprocity with the Earth.
As part of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, this exhibition reflects how ancestral wisdom continues to guide pathways toward sustainable and collective futures — reminding us that to honor Mother Earth is to protect, listen, and learn.

Walking with the Earth: Nomadic Indigenous Peoples, Traditional Wisdom and Global Futures brings to life the philosophy of Nomadic Indigenous Peoples. From the felt cultures of Central and Inner Asia to the pastoral lifeways of East Africa and the musical heritage of Burundi, the exhibition highlights how mobility, reciprocity, and rhythm sustain biodiversity and cultural continuity. In alignment with the UN’s 2026 International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, it also honors nomadic peoples as long-standing stewards of ecological balance.
Organized by WUISP, its Secretariat, Arga Bilig, Wayfinders Circle, and created together with the ORIGINS Program fellows—this exhibition is supported by the Permanent Missions of Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations, and endorsed by the Secretariat of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues within the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

In March 2026, at the Bioneers Conference, our WUISP representative Maria had the honor of witnessing a powerful moment of return — as Indigenous youth paddlers shared their journey along the reborn Klamath River.
In that spirit, Maria offered a scarf created by Origins fellow Sezima Busurmankulova — not simply as a gift, but as a reminder.
A reminder that we move as one.
The image it carries tells a story: of ancestral wisdom flowing like water through generations, of the Orca Sk'aliCh'elh-tenaut, carrying both Elders and youth, and of the deep understanding that all life is interconnected — whale, water, salmon, land, and people.
This story is not separate from the journey of the paddlers. It is the same current.
We were especially honored to stand alongside an Elder of the Lummi Nation, whose people have long carried prayers for the return of the Orca to its home waters. Their presence at the gathering reminds us that these struggles — for water, for life, for return — are not isolated. They are shared.
From the waters of the Klamath to the ancestral seas of the Lummi, a deeper unity is being remembered.
