Last week, our team marked Eid, the end of Ramadan and the breaking of the fast, alongside Persian New Year, Nowruz.
We shared time together around a Haft Sin table, a central Nowruz tradition featuring seven symbolic items representing values such as health, renewal and prosperity.
Both celebrations reflect themes of reflection, renewal and community, and it was a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge the cultures and traditions represented across our team.
Last weekend, our colleagues from across Australia came together for Merimbula Weekend 2026, one of WT’s longest‑running traditions that brings people together beyond the workplace.
More than 100 people, including team members and their families, travelled from every state to take part in a few days of connection and friendly competition. The program included golf on Friday, the annual cricket match on Saturday, and the launch of the "Merimbolympics", a new set of inclusive activities that encouraged everyone to get involved, whether playing, cheering or supporting from the sidelines.
Merimbula Weekend continues to create space for connection, shared experience and community across WT.
For International Women's Day, our teams across Australia gathered to support each other and discuss how we can #BalanceTheScales in our workplace, industry, and society.
Nationally, our Gender DEI working group led an online panel discussion with leaders including Sian McKenna, sahar khaledi, Jack Shelley, Bridey Best, Sarah Witchell, and Kenneth Koh. The panel explored what equity looks like in practice, recognised progress to date and acknowledged the actions still required to drive meaningful change.
Across the offices, teams came together through morning teas, local activities and events to reinforce WT’s commitment to building a fair, inclusive, and accessible world.

Our teams are getting ready for a well-deserved break and our Australian offices will be closed from Friday 19 December 2025 to Monday 5 January 2026.
Wishing you a safe and relaxing festive season with loved ones. We look forward to a successful 2026 together.
Congratulations to Associate Director Sahar Khaledi who has been recognised as a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia in a ceremony at NSW Parliament. A Fellow is the highest honour @engaustralia bestows, recognising an elite group of engineers with the highest standards of technical and professional excellence.
As a leader in the infrastructure sector, Sahar provides cost engineering and advisory expertise for complex projects including metro, road, light rail and marine structures across the project lifecycle.
Join us in congratulating Sahar on this achievement!
Across Australia, our teams embraced the Melbourne Cup spirit in style. While our Melbourne team enjoyed their public holiday or attended the race, our other offices joined the celebration from afar with rodeo-themed events and lunches. A great excuse to enjoy some fun together!
Our team celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with Bollywood music, Indian sweets, samosa chaat, and henna tattoos. Team members attended in traditional attire, creating a special opportunity to connect and celebrate our team's diverse cultures in the office.
Last week the Newcastle team hosted an evening of insights, digital innovation and networking for clients. The night included presentations on what's ahead for Newcastle's construction market and a digital services showcase, including our Point Cloud Scanning capability. Thanks to everyone who attended!
In celebration of NAIDOC Week, our team came together this month to honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through a range of meaningful activities.
Across our offices, we hosted morning teas catered by Indigenous-owned businesses, held quizzes and colouring competitions, explored Indigenous art, and volunteered with @habitataustralia through their Brush with Kindness program.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped create opportunities to learn, reflect and connect.

Our latest Australian Construction Market Conditions Report is out now.
Construction cost escalation remains, in most markets, well above historical averages. This continues to be accompanied by record or near-record highs in construction activity, but some drivers of escalation are not necessarily linked to the peak volumes of work.
How can this situation be reconciled? And what are the implications of the recent escalation in the US-led trade war for the economy, construction and cost escalation?
Visit our website to find out more and download the report.
