This is BWV 889, the chromatic two-voice serpent that is the a minor prelude from Book Two of The Well Tempered Clavier - I remember counting up these tone rows ca. 2010 thinking there were almost 14 complete aggregates… but now I actually do count 14! (And two very near-rows…) 14 was Bach’s number, but that’s probably a coincidence (or did I miscount?) as Bach probably didn’t inhabit such a mentality— counting is a slippery slope with Bach— but who knows! Nevertheless there it is: 14 complete tone rows ca. 1739 Thanks to @okazakistudio and @employablepianist for inspiring this post.
