Memorable day with Finn today - not a soul climbing on the Ben, his first lead, and now he can also tell his kids ‘back in the day we had ice climbing in May’ 🙏🏴🔥
Got this pic in a message from my 18 yr old daughter @jess.s.robertson this morning - unashamedly proud Dad moment 🙂 Looking forward to meeting you out there in a few weeks girl! 🙏❤️💪🔥🏴
A fantastic few weeks of late, properly introducing my boy to the joys of winter climbing. It’s been a great season for the classics ✅ For someone who grew up with a pathological fear of heights, he’s showing great mettle 💪 That’s Finn all over though - a much stronger focus on his weaknesses than his Dad! At this rate we’ll be sharing leads pretty soon 😎❤️🏴
Cracking day on the Ben with Finn. Tried to beat the crowds, and the freezing level, failed on both counts 🤣 Hadrians gave a great into to classic Scottish ice, even if we did both end up wetter than an otters pocket
New spikes, new tools, new route….not quite! There are two types of crack on Lochnagar, today we found the undesirable kind. Nonetheless a quick romp up Giants Head Chimney Direct rewarded our probing. A rare thing to find this in such fine condition 👌 first pic credit @oscarburslem06
Pearler of a day on the Gar with my lad Finn (his first classic grade V) and bro / Uncle Pete. thirty plus years since Pete and I last climbed Polyphemus Gully; still a great climb, and conditions today couldn’t have been better. Scottish winter perfection. Finn’s third winter route and he led us up onto the plateaux with a spring in his step. Chapeuax my boy! 🥃👌🏴🙏
