I didn't know the sky was this glorious when I was out on the line. This turned out to be the most calm and beautiful session I have ever had (which was surprising for me because I was expecting a complete struggle session) Thank you @vaibhavv.20 for the beautiful pictures. I'm so happy to have a photo from afar to pin to my memory of being out there in that soft breeze that evening. #highline #highlife #outdoors

It's still quite hard being a skateboarder and someone trying to build a community around skateboarding. Sharing one recent story with small joys and struggles if you'd like to read :) Our HQ and skatepark is in Panjim and is actually a big underutilised roller rink that has only been brought to life since we skateboarders called it our home and took ownership of the place. Legally though, it isn't ours - it is a state govt facility, which means it can be taken over at any time by the RSFI (Roller Skating Fed of India), political(?) groups like the Shivaji Maratha Mandal for celebratory functions (I don't know the accurate org name), or in today's case by IFFI (International Film Festival of India). All of them who host successful events but aren't careful enough to leave behind a clean skatepark for us to use after. We don't have much of a say in this. We accept what we have for now, organise volunteers and clean the park on our own costs and time. IFFI taking over our park meant we had to move some of our big ramps out. We were using them at a festival in Goa and had no space to move them after. It was surprisingly hard to find someone who wanted skate ramps in their yard or garage. A sport so very cool is still associated more with breaking bones and being destructive than it is for learning balance, overcoming fears and building community. My surfer friend came to my rescue on short notice and found a house for the big ramps till IFFI concludes. After some hectic logistics planning we decided against moving them around the house, over a wall into the backyard and just parking them upfront squeezed between a well and the boundary wall. The super friendly woman whose house the miniramp setup is now parked in front of said to me "I have a five year old. He better be excited to see this when he comes back”. It's a lovely feeling to have people opening their hearts and homes to Skateboarding :) Once in place after a hot, tiring morning, we had a little session on it and someone even managed to have their board fly out and into the well. Another funny adventure all thanks to Skateboarding. Support the local scene @skatelifegoa @surfinggoa @skateable.in

Let me introduce one of our panelists on "From Passion to Profession: Creating Sustainable Social Skate Careers" panel. Anveer Mehta (he/him) Age: 33 Organisation: SkateLifeGoa Role: Founder and Community Leader Location: Goa, India Links: @wrongbeach | @skatelifegoa Bio: Anveer Mehta is a co-founder of SkateLifeGoa and Skateable Spaces. He began his journey in 2015 volunteering with The Barefoot Skateboarders, using skateboarding to drive social change in rural India. He has since designed Panjim city’s first government built skatepark and continues to support skatepark development, training programmes and community initiatives. His work spans storytelling, media and brand collaborations, all focused on growing skateboarding’s visibility and impact in India. Why this work matters to them: Skateboarding changed Anveer’s life. Building a community that connects people across different backgrounds, ages and social groups creates a strong sense of belonging and shared purpose. What they hope participants take away: The importance of community as a support system where people can learn, grow, share responsibility and support each other through both skateboarding and life. #socialskatesummit

Earlier this year, I had the delightful opportunity to introduce skateboarding at the Goa Open Arts Festival in Panjim. What a ride, and an absolute blast it was! Even though it was a bit of a puzzle to pack an entirely new skateable space into a compact area, and still keep the design enough for at least 20 skateboarders to use (in addition to keeping it beginner friendly too!) I took the chance to design some creative and unusual ramps and a layout catered to everyone from our regular rippers at @skatelifegoa to curious festival goers for whom this would be the first time trying skateboarding. This was our first time bringing skateboarding to an arts festival and it was a raging success—the skate park was buzzing every day, afternoon to night! and everyone in the crowd, the skaters and the festival team loved the new ramps, the artwork (by @dattaraj_naik11 and his team) and the overall environment. We organised a skateboarding showcase led by @kima_gr , fun contests for all the skaters, daily skate workshops by @skateshala and even a music jam at this 'pop up skatepark' to conclude the festival. The sight of skateboarders, roller skaters, surf skaters, kids on scooters, babies in prams, and even a wheelchair sharing the park was simply beautiful. I had a lot of fun working with the amazing @goaopenarts team and meeting new faces that have now become regulars at the local park. I was always confident this would turn out great - but the whole experience exceeded my expectations. Once again, Thank you Skateboardng 🙂 (Photos from my phone, some of the skaters and the GOAF team) Thanks to @rmz_foundation for making it possible

🛹 SKATEPARK Curator | Anveer Mehta We are thrilled to have Anveer Mehta curating the festival’s first-ever SKATEPARK, a space where movement, play, and community come alive. A skateboarder, park builder, and founder of SkateLifeGoa, Anveer brings years of experience creating skate spaces that are as much about connection as they are about skill. From his work with The Barefoot Skateboarders in Madhya Pradesh to ProtoVillage in Andhra Pradesh, he has championed skateboarding as a practice that builds community, imagination, and joy. At the festival, Anveer shapes the SKATEPARK not just as a place to skate, but as a vibrant arena for shared experiences including demos, workshops, and lessons, where anyone can discover the thrill of rolling, learning, and moving together. The SKATEPARK is supported by RMZ Foundation. Come experience what Anveer has in store for you at the Festival opening, 20 February 2026! 🔥🛹
