i got hit by a car march 2020 and this was my first time back real dance dancing for a big performance since. prior to my spine surgery after that, i made a playlist of songs about the body prevailing and asked people to contribute to it. the first song i personally put on it was chiquitita, which became my grounding mantra— ‘you’ll be dancing once again, and the pain will end, you will have no time for grieving’. i’d listen to it and cry lol
performing with
@angelatrimburdance in this recital experience was unlike anything i’ve ever been a part of, and while i gave myself just a little bit of grieving— i was DANCING once again, baby!
friends who went described it as euphoric performance art. showcasing literal utopia— a world where joy and play childlike healing are the focus. and pure energy. i wish i could’ve bottled it up.
@angelatrimbur has such a unique knack for creating spaces to make this unique magic. her energy oozes out onto all those involved. thank you immensely for feeding your inner child angela, and in turn letting ours feast as well. your beautiful freaky brain is a wonderful thing i feel so lucky to get to see and experience.
i battled against my inner critic a lot and found the reprieve from this by being in community with my vivaldi sisters— we always brought it back to play, goddamnit!!! with eachother, with our freaky dreams, with abe lincoln himself. and for that i am eternally grateful because it transmuted my hyper critical inner voice and told her to shut the fuck up so i could be a ghost for a minute when we turned off the lights and ran around in our nightgowns. i wish everyone could’ve experienced the dynamic in our times all together, and got the chance to be instantly affirmed constantly, seen really seen, and lifted up. there was a divine hand leading angela to bring us together and thank GOD. id buy a haunted mansion over and over again with those angels.
