We do not remember every book we read. We remember the ones that found us at the right time and never really left. For World Book Day, we asked 13 people to go on record. Not the books on their shelves. The ones that got inside them. Consider this your reader’s survival kit. What book would make yours? Tell us in the comments ✨

We just wrapped our first workshop of the year. 10 writers showed up committed to honing their craft; and they left with a clearer sense of what it takes to get published globally. We pushed perspectives, questioned narratives and got closer to what editors are actually looking for. Huge thanks to Nelson and the writers who made this session at Write Good Stories what it was! You should probably be at the next one. This workshop was supported by @theosahonokunbofoundation

Not every writing job looks like a book or a script. Sometimes it’s the words on the walls of an exhibition. The curatorial journey through a space. The small prompts that shape how people experience it. That’s exhibition storytelling, and for +234 Art Fair we were invited to help build that narrative layer, beginning with one word: inclusivity.

Only a few tickets left for @nelsonfromnorman____ ’s How to Write for International Publications workshop! Many writers want to publish globally. Very few actually know how the system works. In this workshop, Nelson breaks down the craft and strategy behind writing for international platforms. What you’ll learn: • How to pitch editors at global publications • How strong international stories are structured • How to develop ideas that travel beyond your local context • How to position your writing for a global audience • How to receive and apply editorial feedback like a working writer • How to move from local writing to international bylines If you’ve been thinking about taking your work beyond your immediate environment, this is where to start. March 14th, 10AM WGS HQ Link in bio for tickets. Tickets: ₦65,000

It’s easy to look at global publications and think, “They don’t publish writers like me.” So, you keep your best ideas buried in your drafts. But here is the reality: international editors want your perspective. You just need to know how to package it for them. Once you learn how to pitch, you stop getting ignored. You start getting bylines. And eventually, those bylines build a career without borders—a portfolio that travels the world and does the speaking for you before you even enter a room. Your stories deserve that kind of reach. Stop counting yourself out. Writing for International Publications · March 14 · Write Good Stories · Link in bio.

The first Write Good Stories workshop of the year is here. We’re bringing together 10 writers for an intensive day with Nelson C.J. — journalist, storyteller, and one of the most compelling voices shaping how African culture is written about globally. This workshop is for writers who want their work to travel. You’ll learn how to pitch international publications, write with editorial precision, and build the kind of relationships that open real doors. Applications are now open. Spots are limited. Apply via the link in bio.

Happy New Year friends. We’re two months late, we know. You can blame the airplane we’ve been building while somehow simultaneously flying it. Anyway — hi. Missed you!

Start the week knowing this: You are allowed to take your time. You are allowed to write badly. You are allowed to rest. Here’s your reminder to let go of the guilt and give yourself permission to just… be a writer, wherever you are today.
