A really exciting networking meeting and launch event for the ripples project last night. We had three poetry readings in Swedish by the original poets and showed the three films created in response to an English language translation. Two of the films also featured further translation into the Merthyr dialect and into the Welsh language. It was the first time any of the poets had seen the films so we were able to witness immediate responses. Elisabeth Westlund said of ripple performance by Elinor Wyn Reynolds that it enabled her to ‘feel the poem from the inside’ a beautiful line from the original poet! There were 18 poets and artists in the meeting from Wales, Sweden, Mexico, England, Catalunya and Czech Republic and some good new international connections made.
