Yesterday was Band Day at WP! Designed as a festival opportunity for bands of all levels, participants were given the opportunity to perform, receive feedback, and participate in a clinic! Clincs were led by Dr. Scott Watson and Dr. Teresa Purcell-Giles. The event was MC'd by Professor John Maiello, and WP students volunteered throughout the day! 🥁🎺🧡🖤

Congrats to 2018 WP alumnus Joshua Idio on having his piece “Cannon Fire!” performed by the Davenport Central Symphonic Wind Ensemble at the Randall Standridge Music Composers concert at the 79th Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago!!
WowWowWow!!!! It has been an amazing few days with our Composer-in-Residence Omar Thomas! He is an amazing pedagogue and human and his writing for wind band offers an incredible, distinct and much-needed voice to the repertoire. Over the past few days, we’ve teamed up with the wonderful students and directors at Bergenfield High School to work on six of Omar’s pieces, which we’ll feature in a concert tomorrow evening, December 4th at 7:30! Also on this program is the one-and-only, phenomenal Dr. David Demsey, who is soloing with the Bergenfield bands. It’s going to be an incredible night. Don’t miss it!
