𓆱”Human Altars” Performance Workshop Athens
.
.
.
Finally met my good friend’s mentor,
@mariallappa . Despite her petite frame, she carries an immense inner strength — something uniquely hers, cultivated over years of training, experience, growth, and leading countless workshops. It’s hard to describe in words, but it’s deeply captivating.
Athens blends Eastern and Western cultures and ethnicities, with a rich history and vibrant character. The city feels both wild and direct, with chaos and madness visible everywhere. Even the workshop participants’ bodies reflected the unique textures shaped by the Mediterranean climate.
The workshop was incredibly intense, but the collective focus and presence of everyone made the process feel like a shared high. Our awareness gradually shifted from human bodies to earth, petals, turmeric powder, candles, fire, and water — wet, sticky, and slippery. Bodies slowly merged, from individual to communal. We tried new things by watching others try, without the concept of success or failure. The collective performance and creation were truly fun, and cleaning up afterward gave my body the space and time to decompress.
