What a night that WOS! Thank you so much to @musicnt for the NT Music Award for Best Metro Festival! We are so proud to be nominated among some awesome Territory festivals and to win is such a wonderful acknowledgement of the years of work, love and passion that has gone into this festival. This award recognise all the hard work of so many within the Alice Springs community, as well as so many incredible interstate friends who have helped us make Wide Open Space the special festival that it is. Massive shout out to the fellas with the vision that was WOS, Jimmy Cocking, Rodney Angelo & Scott De Large, you started something beautiful ❤️ To the crew who’ve worked their guts out for the last few years to get WOS to this point, we cannot thank you enough. To all the artists and performers who have contributed so much to this festival over the years, there’s no festival without you. To the Alice Springs community for all the years of dancing up a dust storm, we love you. Thank you Music NT for celebrating and supporting Territory Music. It was wonderful to see so many Mparntwe artists not just nominated, but winning awards! Big shout outs to @thewantedgems , @katangajnrmusic , @paulahchee , @davecrowemusic , @mugfakers and massive shout out to our bro @monkeymarcmusic for winning Song of the Year! Such a creative hot spot the Centre is!

☀️ Wide Open Space Festival '24 on Arrernte country NT - wild moments & thanks (part 1) @wos.fest What a festival for the books, such a spectacular festival of music, art & good times! There are so many amazing shots to post I've been in decision paralysis so I'm going to have to drip these out slow. First this set of myself & my co-star @le.ron.contactjuggling at a sunset moment & mid fire show 📸 @oliver_eclipse_photography . Incredible shots with more coming, swipe through for bonus last blur shot of my contact fire staff 🔥 💫 But upfront, HUGE thank you to a stack of folks:  -The Arrernte mob for welcoming me to your country, it was awe inspiring & so special.  -Kaye having me organise & perform fire shows, day rove & MC your wild cabaret. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of so much for these gorgeous crowds. -Eva for the great stage managing & Finn for the extra support, you were legends.  -Jarrod, you were the host with the most! -The whole WOS team, everyone was so helpful, hardworking & beautiful. Folks from Alice do it up right. Extra 👏👏👏 to Le Ron Hubble / Liam for bringing absolute 🔮 excellence to this event while learning how to do a pop up fire show & use new fire props from scratch, trusting me to paint his stage face for the first time (under pressure & badly lit) in a tent, adapting to a thousand costume & act changes on the fly, letting me boss b1tch all the admin & organising, generally being a fantastic traveling carnie companion & a total rockstar to party with.  More coming! . . . . #arrernte #arrerntecountry #wideopenspacefestival #centralaustralia #northernterritory #northernterritoryaustralia #northernterritorytourism #australianbush #australiansunset #desertsunset #australianfestivals #veilfans #veilfansflow #silkfanflow #silkfans #contactjuggling #contactjuggler #fireflowarts #fireperformer #fireeating #fireball #contactstaff #performanceartist #flowartist  #flowcommunity #flowartistsofig #flowmies #flowarts #circusarts

Thanks Rod and Jimmy and their families for their continued commitment to Wide Open Space Festival. Big thanks to our Volunteers! The 2024 Wide Open Space Festival couldn't have been possible without the help of the wonderful people who put in their time, effort and skills to help make the festival everything it was! We had the best bunch of people supporting every step of the festival with positive attitudes and we want the world to know that we had the best bunch of people there with us every step of the way! From getting to site days early for set up, to working across the festival in production, site, frontline services, program assistance, care assistance and more to staying on site to pack down and move the festival out, we appreciate all you did and couldn't have done it without you! Our Lost and Found still has a few items...so as the dust settles, if you find yourself looking for anything, be sure to get in touch before we donate any unclaimed items to the op shop! The presence of the Snake. Magical 3 days in the center of Australia for the @wos.fest . Thanks to @amaru_tribe for making me one of them. Now in a pivotal moment of my life I surrender to the universe and its destiny. Trusting the potential, I sacrifice for my Life.

With the festival only a day away, it's time to do a final check on what you need for a weekend camping in the desert. TAKE CARE when driving on the Ross Highway. Avoid night driving, be mindful of cows on the road. CARPOOL where possible and be aware there is no public transport or Uber connecting the festival site to Mparntwe/Alice Springs. BUS PASSES are still available for Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday mornings to Ross River Resort, and from Ross River Resort Saturday & Sunday and Monday mornings back to Mparntwe / Alice Springs via Alice Springs Airport. CAR PASSES are SOLD OUT. If you have not managed to score a car pass, you can park in our designated car park, and will then need to walk your gear into one of the campsites. Please pack accordingly. Please prepare well for DESERT WEATHER. Days are warm, sunny and dry. Nights are very chilly at the moment. Warm clothes and sleeping gear are essential. HAYFEVER is a real buzz killer at a party. Unfortunately the buffle grass and high pollen count here can cause problems for sufferers, so pack medication if necessary. There is NO BYO at WOS and we will be checking incoming vehicles. Our licensed bar will be open throughout the weekend. When setting up camp, please be aware that LONG GRASS can attract SNAKES. It also presents a greater fire risk, meaning there are NO FIRES allowed in campsites. Designated fires will be lit around the festival site for keeping toasty warm. See you soon at Wide Open Space!!
