"Aliquot" - a term frequently used in forensic analysis referring to a smaller portion of the sample. Instead of using an entire blood sample for testing, the scientist will take a small portion to run tests.
If the aliquot is destroyed by human or mechanical error the original sample is still intact for additional testing.
Do you think
to sink its teeth into this
one watches the dark
to wait for the light
or are you just good at watching things burn?

I started writing for this album while putting the finishing touches on "A Beautiful Mind for Ennui"
Looking back now, I'm intrigued with the strangeness of it and the way it sounds. The whole world of it feels like the color blue to me. When I play it it's hard not to think of what I was listening to at the time and how that bled into the songs...
I was living in a storage unit listening to rock bands like Ride (hence the song "ride") and Radiohead. Portishead was a huge influence as well, I had just discovered them at the time. Their vibe inspired some of the moody stuff on this album (hence the song "dummy")
"Allison" "Cling" and "Ride" became show regulars. "Bloodlines" is one of my favorite songs now.
The album was also inspired by my surroundings at the time, a bit of bleakness and feeling lost, as one does.
Constantly watching indie horror movie Habit (90s) between coming up with the music helped shape the sound and overall vibe. (Hence the moody song "Habit")
I remember more about this album perhaps because it was followed by lots of rehearsals, shows and eventually a small tour up to Seattle and back. I'm also fond of this time because I met Stephen who would play drums for us during this era. I was also thrilled to be playing with my friends Tyler (guitar and keyboards) and Alex on bass (not gonna lie 😜)
Our last show together at Middletown art center is still one of my favorite memories gig wise. The show we did inside Matt's office was great fun as well!
I'm probably the most proud of songs like Habit, Bloodlines, Ride, Smile and
No Complaints. Those songs were different than things I had made before and really felt like I was channeling whatever I was feeling at the time. I don't really look back too much, but I'm pretty proud of those songs in particular.
