Catch the World Dance Showcase during the World Rhythm & Dance Festival featuring a performance by Roxanne Rojas de Blanco. Celebrated dancer, and choreographer, Roxanne Rojas de Blanco is founding member of Omo Aché Afro-Cuban Music & Dance Company and a curious life-long learner of dance.  She is driven by a deep respect for the embodied wisdom of Indigenous and African people as expressed through cultural dances of the Americas and brings 30+ years of experience and study under primary source artists from Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Puerto Rico.  She will be performing a dance inspired by Elegua, the childlike trickster and orixa of crossroads, as preserved in the Afro-Cuban dance traditions. Claudia’s work extends into schools in San Diego County through Music, Capoeira and Storytelling. Her Library Concerts reach capacity and she is excited to offer a 45 min workshop at 10:15am-11:00am during the festival to kids and parents. Tania is a Peruvian dance artist, educator, and choreographer dedicated to preserving and sharing the cultural traditions of Peru through movement, music, and performance. She received her professional training at the Universidad Nacional de Folklore José María Arguedas in Lima, Peru, and is a former member of the Ballet Folklórico Nacional del Perú. With over a decade of teaching and performance experience, Tania brings audiences into the richness of Peruvian and Afro-Latin traditions through dynamic performances, cultural education, and immersive artistic experiences that celebrate heritage, rhythm, and community. Tania’s teaching a FREE Afro-Peruvian dance workshop during the festival at 12:30pm-1:15pm. Founded in 2008 with a vision to make dance accessible to all, Wheelchair Dancers Organization, also recognized as Dynamic Inclusive Dance, provides dance classes to hundreds of individuals of all ages and mobility levels, creating opportunities for self-expression, connection, and empowerment. They will be performing TWO pieces during the performance segment! Get ready to dance Oceanside! World Rhythm & Dance Festival on May 16th will have so many fantastic teachers! Experience a dynamic fusion of Afro-Caribbean diasporic movement and modern/contemporary dance in this all-levels workshop. Rooted in rhythm, grounded flow, and expressive storytelling this workshop invites dancers of all backgrounds to explore culturally rich movement vocabularies while building strength, connection, and confidence. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer of just starting out, expect to move with intention, sweat with joy, and leave feeling inspired! Trevor Van Orden is a dedicated dance educator, performer, and choreographer with a strong background in both teaching and professional dance. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from SUY Potsdam and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. Trevor currently teaching K-5 dance at High Tech elementary in Chula Vista, where he blends structure and creativity through various dance styles. Trevor has performed with Borinquen Dance Theatre, Dreamers Project, THAE, Brickhouse, and taught at Heartbeat Music and Performing Arts Academy and Coronado Dance Academy. His work centers on building student confidence, discipline, and collaborative expression through rigorous, joyful movement experiences rooted in cultural relevance and artistic excellence.
