This Woman Right Here! Miss Cyndi Lauper. I've always considered her as one of my 80's Icons with her music, style, creativity, just everything about her I LOVE!
When she first burst on to the scene with Girl Just Want To Have Fun from the album She's So Unusual.
I said "This Gay Does Want to Have Fun" and "This Gay IS So Unsual!" Cyndi Lauper wrote this specifically FOR ME!

Early 80's, I was living in Phoenix, Arizona. At night I'd be watching USA Networks Night Flight music video program (MTV as a premium channel that my parents were not paying extra money for).
Seeing the likes of @cyndilauper , Annie Lennox of Eurythmics, @madonna , @duranduran and so many more across my tv screen.
I was always thinking "I want to look like them, I want dress like them and feel creative like them" while living in a conservative city of Phoenix. I would have to venture out to Tempe, Scottsdale or east of Central Ave in Phoenix to see "My People".
Cyndi Lauper always amazed me with the lyrics to her songs. But I was so young and hadn't "lived" life yet. So most meaning of her lyrics didn't land with me.
Until now, this morning I watched Time After Time music video. And by golly I Boo Hoo Hoo'd before the first words came out of her mouth..... I'm sitting here thinking WHAT? WHY?
Its the magic of her music, its the magic in her lyrics, its the magic of her creativity. And with me and her music its the magic that I've created with friends past and present.. So It kind of hit me and hit me hard.
So now I'm going to have a great day revisiting this womans music. And remembering the early 80's in Phoenix (which were fantastic), to moving to Los Angeles and beyond.
I wanted to make sure that Cyndi Lauper has a lasting impression in my heart that I will never forget..

I Did A Thing…
Palm Springs Modernism Week 2026 I was a Docent at one of the houses on tour.
What fun it was greeting the many guest and chatting about the house, decor etc etc.

As I sit here icing my knees from the PS Hiking Trail and my trip to Downtown LA running between two hotels like an over-extended hooker.
I’m reminded of why this happened.
Last Sunday, January 4th was the day a group of friends celebrated the life of our dear friend Brian Bradley by spreading his ashes on Likken Trail, a request he made before passing.
Brian and I were great friends since 1995. He had the biggest heart and always had a knack for bringing people together.
Think of us as characters from Will & Grace.
Brian was Wilma “Will”Truman.
And of course I am the fabulous Just Jack “Jack” McFarland.
This was my first time hiking and this will definitely be MY LAST. I did this only for Brian Bradley. It was a beautiful morning. The rain stopped which gave us beautiful skies and fresh air.
It was the perfect time to reflect.
I now have some of Brian’s ashes. I will keep this in a small vile with the name Fatty Bum Gladys (there’s a story behind this, I’ll explain later)
Brian does NOT want to be in an Urn, this was his specific request.
Things that were swirling through my mind on this torturous hill.
1) Likken Trail… Me No Likey
2) Hiking Boots are actually FOR HIKING! Not to match my peacoat?
I was warned several times NOT to wear my heels for hiking. NOTED
3) I just got my nails done with new tips. Lord, I cannot fucking FALL….
4) There is NO bar at the top of Likken
5) There are NO up or down elevators or escalators either..
6) Are We There Yet? Are Weeeeee???
7) Oh! My ass is getting a work out. Keep squeezing each butt cheek, Raynard!
8) This is what Long Horn Sheep look like up-close. “Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Cutie!” Or “Baaaaaaaaaaaaa Cutie”.

Yes, I’m asking YOU, what can I get them? I mean the biggest present to them from ME was MY BIRTH into this world.
They were very surprised when instead of me screaming when the doctor slapped me. I instead screamed out “RAYNARD AFRODITE MINOGUE- PEARSON AND I’M YOUR NEW MISS OKINAWA, JAPAN!” Then I blew a kiss and walked out of the hospital room. Oh wait, that was my dream last night.. Nevermind..
My gift will be an anniversary card.. and a Costco trip!

This morning I was going over photos of Brian, this song “Here With Me” started.. The song was the theme song to the tv show Roswell. Brian and I every week would sit, watch and discuss this show.
Today listening to the first line in the lyrics.. I LOST IT..

This is really hard for me to say..
I will miss Brian Bradley my best friend of 30 years. Brian passed away last week and I am crushed, I am heartbroken, I am in a state of shock.. More info to come as I will NOT disclose any info til a proper time.
We were West Hollywood roommates from 1997- 2001. He helped saved me from myself several times while we lived together. He would say “Raynard? Do you really need that much glitter?”
From what he told me, I showed him that it’s OK to be a Proud Gay Man. We had great house parties as roommates. Y2K year (2000), we would race home from work to watch our 2 favorite shows. WB’s Popular and Roswell. Our favorite song Dido’s “Here With Me” among others. This Canadian Catholic Farmboy surprised me with his knowledge of R&B songs and artist. And he happily smiled without rolling his eyes as I repeatedly played Dannii Minogue music (Not her sister Kylie.. It’s always Dannii, Dannii, Dannii).
He was even Ok when I made him zip me up in my sequined Bob Mackie dresses while I walked around our apartment modeling them..
He was a brave soul as I would shock him with my out there gayness while helping him step into the world worry free as a Gorgeous Gay Man that he was.
We would sit on our 3rd story balcony and watch Britney, N’Sync, P!nk and Wyclef Jean as they would pop in & out of the Le Parc hotel which was directly across the street from our apartment.. I wished we had cell phones at that time.
Everything reminds me of him. The photos on my Apple Watch and cell phone are filled with him. I didn’t realize I had so much. But that’s what happens when you have a friendship of 30 years..
When Brian moved back to California, he quickly made great new friends when he started playing Pickleball. Which lead to me having a new set of friends.. I don’t play pickleball but it’s fun to watch.
